Sarnie Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Sorry but whats the benefit of using one of these? (eg Sell it to me and i'll buy it ) Quote
Chesterfield Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Sarnie - on the light colours I dont know - but results that can be had from a Porter Cable can be stunning to say the least. I am just the kind of person that would always be scared of using a device like this, but Im probably being overly paranoid, here is a guide on using this device - check the images further down to see just what a shine you can get on cars with one of these. Beware though, we all know how thin the paint can be on a 350Z, so perhaps some caution should be exercised with any "cutting" compunds etc... http://www.autopia-carcare.com/inf-port ... isher.html Quote
Rob_Quads Posted April 1, 2007 Author Posted April 1, 2007 It can be used to turn a car looking like this to It can be used to remove light scuffs etc Turn a pink car red again From to On my car even just using a very very mild compound gave the black soo much more depth Quote
nixy Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 these are fantastic things if you know what you're doing - I would recommend buying a paint thickness gauge as well if you're getting into it seriously. I had a scuff on my bumper and nothing would correct it by hand I was gutted - a detailing guy came out and literally 'ground' it away with one of these - you could only see it now with a magnifying glass. Why you selling it? Quote
Rob_Quads Posted April 1, 2007 Author Posted April 1, 2007 Getting rid of it as I don't use it enough and it will help out saving for a trip to Whistler next year Quote
nixy Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 if I had a garage I would think about it. Have you tried advertising it on detailing world? Quote
Rob_Quads Posted April 1, 2007 Author Posted April 1, 2007 To advertise on DW you have to pay £5 so I am trying other forums first Quote
bernmc Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I have one of these - used on both the VR4 and the Z (and the new car will be done as soon as it gets here ). Zaino'd with before and after pics here: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3742 I paid £185 for: the polisher & kit as above, plus lead and transformer delivered. Well worth the money, but may cause anally retentive polishing fetish. Quote
ir_fuel Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 The guy who details my car also has a PC. It works very well. If you are into serious car detailing get one of these, its a big timesaver! Quote
Sarnie Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 So how do you use this? Do you use it to apply the polish or to buff it off or both? Quote
nixy Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 different pad attachments for different things - applying, removing, polishing, cutting (as far as I know). Quote
ir_fuel Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 He uses it to apply polish and wax. Buffing it off is done by hand Quote
