dunc1n1101 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Anybody got a guide for removong the counter weight in the boot??? My boot doesnt stay up due to my spoiler being to heavy for the struts and I dont know where to get the struts re-gassed to a higher pressure. Cheers Quote

All you will do is remove weight from a point that it's actually quite useful - over the driven wheels. Edit, if the weightloss is to help the tailgate struts, this will be beneficial, but for best results go for the re-gas Quote
Gudzy Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I've got the same problem, I'm hoping for a bit of time when it's not raining this weekend to remove it. SGS was recommended on here for getting the struts re-gassed, I got a quote of about £80 to gas them to a higher strength to cope with the added weight but I want to see how removing the weight goes first. http://www.sgs-engineering.com/gas-struts Quote

I done this the other week...took about 10 mins and couldn't believe it had taken me over a year to get round to doing it It worked for me, my boot now opens in one press and it doesn't fall on my head now. spursmaddave Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Removed my counter weight and rear wiper earlier, took about 5 minutes, bit of brute strength required on the plastic trim nearly knocked me out as all the poppers came off at once Haven't removed the pump nozzle yet but i can't see that will he much more effort Quote
WhackyWill Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Easy tip for removing the plastic trim in the boot to get to the boot weight. If its cold heat the plastic trim with a hair dryer first and it pops off easier and you are less likely to break any of the poppers. 2 Quote
