Hi foks, i am about to do the ipod hack on my Bose HU, but im not sure if the HU is broken or no. The radio works fine and the CD works fine BUT when I push "tape" nothing happens!!! I havent got a tape in there but i thought it would at least TRY to switch modes when there is no tape in, but its just like, it ignores the fact that i pushed the button. Is this normal??? I dont want to go and do the ipod hack if its going to be a waste of time. cheers duncan

hi folks, im going to be installing a car pc within the next week or so. the power will be coming direct from the battery and the ignition. I have everything pretty much prepared apart from one thing, so i thought i would come to you guys to help me out. What is the best route to take when feeding a wire from the battery into the car interior??? Is there any guides oout there?? cheers duncan

hey guys, hoping you can help me out here. I have a set of Team Dynamics "Jade-R" alloys in black, and Ive managed to take some of the paint off when putting n new wheel nuts (dont ask). I will probably get them refurbished in the future but at the moment I just want tto touch them up. Problem is, I have no idea what product to use and how to use it correctly!?! Can you guys help me out with this??? Best product to use (spray? brush on? etc), do is need to prep the area? Do I need laquer??? A guide or something would be amazing!!! hi guys, Im in the middle of doing a few mods to my zed, i have installed a pop charger and will soon be installing a berk intake tube. Now most of the guides say to disconnect the battery for a while after installing these mods to reset the ECU, but i never done this as i know that if i diconnect the battery it will reset my stereo head unit and it will ask for the code to unlock it. Problem is, I dont know the code to unlock the head unit!!!! Does anybody know how to either find out my code OR bypass the locking of the HU altogether??? My stereo is just the stock Bose head unit. Oh, and its a JDM import. Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers folks Duncan

wow, a lot of response here! ok so here is my thoughts about it... Instead of doing this on my own. I would probably go into partnership with one or more of the existing traders on here. the way it would work is, I would supply the trader with the drawing of the requested part, whether this be a 100 wheel spacers or just one "one off" custom part. it honestly could be absolutely anything on the car. the trader would then own this drawing and get the parts fabricated and sell them as their own brand at a much cheaper alternative. I would cut some sort of deal with the trader whether it be a one off payment or a small percentage of the profit for each one sold. I am open to negotiations when it comes to cutting a deal as like I said before, I'm not really looking to make this a business of mine, just wanting to help fellow modders out but I obviously won't sit and do work for free lol. this means that I would not be a trader myself on this forum, I would simply be working for an existing trader. does this all make sense? if the mods feel that I would still need to pay the annual fee, then fair enough, I would rather pay it than get banned. there has been a lot of good responce from engineers on this topic so if we included them, then we would be covered for cheap calcs AND cheap fabrication! so if any traders on here would be interested in this then send me a PM and we can discuss matters further. cheers folks Duncan

Yeah I did wonder about that. It was just an idea I had to see what people think. I have no idea if there would be any copyright issues or no. As for the NDT, I think the fabricators do that as part of the fabrication anyway. Bearing in mind, this sort of thing doesnt have to be a copy of a design, it could be absolutely anything, i.e. custon pipework to move things around in an engine bay. I dont fancy getting taken to court over copyright issues haha! Yeah of course. Like I said I was just posting the idea up to see what everyone thought about ita and to see if it was feesible. I wouldnt actually take any orders or anythin from anyone before talking to the mods first to see how it would all work. Im not trying to make a business or anything out of this, its just an idea for helping out fellow modders. The idea came from me being a total noob to modding but Im LOVING it, the only thing that slows us all down is how expensive things are for parts that are if broken down and had a look at by an engineer are actully really quite basic components. I'll see how this thread comes along. Hopefully It will get a load of responses and if there is enough people that would put in orders and most importantly it clears everything that tarac said, then I will talk to the mods and we can get something set up. Hey folks just had an idea how all of us modders can work together to save a bit of cash, see what you think.... What it is, is that I am a design draughtsman in the oil industry. What this entails is companies come to me with an idea or basic sketch for a specific component or assembly of components. I then take their conceptial idea and model it in 3D, make sure everything works, then do final drawings and hand them to a machining workshop/fabricators to get them made up. Now point of all this large speel is that surely this could benefit a lot of us modders on here! For example, how much is a set ot wheel spacers roughly? I reckon I could model and draw a wheel spacer and have it ready for fabrication in less than an hour. Now the cost of getting a fabricator to make up a few of these wheel spacers would be MUCH less than buying them from a stockist!!! OR the other option would be that the suppliers on here would send me hand sketches (or something similar) of the wheel spacer and I could do the drawing, send it to the supplier and they could take it to a fabricator and have 100 or so made up, then sell them as their own budget brand to anybody on the forum that requires wheel spacers. Maybe brand them as "350Z-UK.COM" It obviously doesnt have to just be wheel spacers, it could be for any custom parts or absolutely ANYTHING for the car!!!!! I would charge a small fee (or cut a deal with the suppliers) for the labour of the model and drawing BUT bear in mind, the suppliers only have to pay this fee ONCE as they have their own copy of the drawing to send to fabricators whenever they need more made!!!! Hey folks just a quick post to get some advice... I have huge wheels on my zed (20in 5 spoke) and my OEM JDM discs and calipers just look tiny and rubbish so Im thinking of getting Brembo (or some other sort of BBKs) all round BUT I cant afford to buy a set for all my wheels in one go (cuz they are mega expensive!!!). Now I can afford to buy the front kit right now but the rear kit will have to wait until god knows when. My question is, would you guys advise fitting the front kits and leaving the rears as stock (until I can afford to buy the rears), or would that just look mega ridiculous??? Hi folks, Im replacing all my bolts that are on show in my engine bay as all mine are all oxidized and rusty. There is a company called "gallery" that sells 350z engine bay bolt sets. You can choose the colours of the bolt set etc. The only thing is, is that the company is in canada and i find its a bit of a pain ordering stuff from abroad. Does anybody know of anywhere in the uk that supplies these???? Cheers folks

Hi folks, just newly installed a JWT popcharger into my zed. It looks and sounds great BUT its making the rest of the intake (the maf and the duct arm) look rubbish!!! So, what i am after is one of that aluminium duct arms. Does everyone know the thing im after?? Where do i get this?? I dont even know what the proper name is to search for it?! I am getting my plenum and throttle body polished so what i am after is "shiny-ness" from the air filter (pop charger) right back to the plenum. Can anyone help me out here pleeeease!!! Cheers folks

hi folks, Ive had my zed for about 3 weeks now and ive got a bit of time off from work so i want to spruce up the car a bit. First thing i want to do is give whole engine bay a major clean up BUT Im not really sure where to start. Ive looked through a couple of the tpoics and ive got a rough idea of holw to get strted but there is a couple of things that i am still not sure aboout and im hoping you guys can help me. 1. One of the things that makes my engine bay look tired is a lot of my bolts are oxidized or rusty, is there a way to clean these up or am i best just replacing them? If i do replace them all, what type of coating should be on the new bolts that i buy to stop them rusting/oxidizing? 2. My bottles are filthy (the window washer bottle etc), and they are looking kinda yellow, how can i get these back to their original colour? 3. some other random steel bits are a bit rusty or oxidized (i.e The twisted metal bar that holds my pop charger to the engine bay). How can i get them back to being all clean and shiny? 4. My pop charger heat shield is a bit messy, i scrubbed it a little with WD40 but it took the gold colour off it. Is this a special cotaing that the heatshield requires? Or can i go ahead and scrub the whole thing removing ALL the gold colour coating? hi guys, just bought a second hand pop charger. I'm going to be installing it today but I'm wanting to give the heat shield s good clean before I install it, so its nice and shiny! can I just use warm soapy water to clean it? is there any products that you guys would recommend to do this? I've got a dremmel tool also to buff it up to a nice shine. cheers guys dunc1n

Hey guys Im hoping you can help me. I was just looking through my fuse box underneath the bonnet to check for any blow fuses. I know how to check all the single fuses (they are all fine) BUT I have know idea how to check if the fusible links are blown!!! Does anybody have a pic or something of a blown fusible link and a pic of a "good" fusible link??? Do I have to remove the fusible link to check it is ok, or can i just tell by looking in the clear plastic? Cheers guys

Ive checked all the fuses in the engine bay and in the footwell BUT I have read that there is a 3rd fusebox?! Is this true? It HAS to be something to do with the fuses as both windows have exactly the same problem, like i said tho, I need a diagram of which fuse is which as all my diagrams are in japanese!?
