Well my dash board has been doing my head in for a while and this morning it wound me up so much I decided my sanity could take the creak anymore.

So in full heath robinson mode I have fixed it with a wooly hat, not the greatest aesthetically speaking....

I can't work out how to strip the dash down to actually find what is creaking so does anyone have any suggestions of a more subtle permanent solution?

I was thinking a couple of black erasers.

Probably wouldnt look too stupid as would be pushed a fair way down where the dash meets the screen and may not be able to be seen.

Had this on my first (2004) 350.

Cured it used strips of the foam draft excluder you put round door frames, or for that matter any strips of foam that will squash down and out of sight ;)

I too (in my 53 reg 350z) stuck strips of foam down between the dash and window. If you try to take the dash apart you are likely to introduce even more rattles :surrender::headhurt:

Hmmmm... Where would one procure strips of sticky foam? Or are you applying the sticking agent to your foam yourself? Do fill me in heh

+1 - B&Q, Wickes, Screwfix, Homebase etc etc

I used some black 3core flex and stripped out the cores to leave a pliable outer which I have pushed down between the front of the dash and the windscreen. Seems to work for me

Good shouts on the door seal and electric flex minus the cores.

I'd not thought of those lol, :surrender:

Definitely agree with your comment about stripping the dash, I'd definitely make it worse.

I'm a bit heavy handed and good at over tightening, breaking things, stripping threads etc.

Trip to B&Q at the weekend I think!

Have been wondering where my dash rattles were coming from and hadn't considered it might be the screen!

Glad I read this guys - thanks - will give it a go. :)

This has been very helpful for me. The rattle in my dash is driving me frickin mental. :bangin: The only way I can seem to stop it is to put one hand on the dash, which for both safety and practicality isn't a workable solution.

Please lets have more suggestions of suitable, cheap deadening material that we can use!

I used this stuff to replace the original felt-like material that Nissan put on the dash parts to stop rattles. had to take off the original stuff when messing around with carbon skinning, and this seems to do the trick. Unfortunately only available in large (100m) quantities so pretty pricey if you only need a few inches.

Edit. just found this stuff which isn't half as tough but is a lot cheaper: http://www.affixit.co.uk/single-sided-foam-tape-single-sided-foam-tape-black-c-2_204_205_206/thick-black-foam-tape-p-163
