C.J Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 When removing the fuel/petrol cap, what would cause a slight (1 second) gasp/whoosh of air? Sounds like a vacuum of air (I can't tell if it's blowing or sucking), hissing when opening the cap to fill up. Any ideas? Quote
Wasso Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 It's only something like the fumes in the tank. They build up and when you unscrew the cap it does as you say gasp/woosh Quote
C.J Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Thanks guys. I've never heard this in any of my past cars, so was surprised to hear it. I assume all Zeds do this? What's the cause, different venting set up? Quote
HaydnH Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 The Z has a huge petrol tank as well which will make a difference. Quote
EH 370z Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Most nissan petrol cars do it, to an extent. But if you feel it is very bad to the point you cannot get the cap off, it could be a blocked breather pipe. but unlikley Quote

Lexx Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 You should hear it on my HSV when I have ran the tank down. It's been loud enough to make other people in the petrol station look round at me! Quote
