I was hoping just to blind the Europeans when I go to France later this year

What, with your pasty British skin? :p:lol:

Double whammy

I think they will be amazed at the cracking bikers tan I am developing. Not a patch on the TdF riders, but coming along quite nicely with the sunny weather :sun:

Don't forget to have a spare bulb kit with you too. The French rozzers get especially arsey about this.

Does that include spare SMD LEDs for when the rear ones go? :teeth:

Knowing the French, if it meant they could fine a Brit, it probably does!

I checked on the AA site and it mentioned spare bulbs were optional? It is bizarre as there is no way you could replace a bulb on a Zed unless you got a tool kit in the back which isnt legal requirements?

Im hoping my French language skills and previous residency in France will help get me out of any tricky spots, although will only be in France for like 30 mins as am landing at Dunkirque and driving across the border to Bruges.

AFAIK The reason is that its illegal to drive with a bulb out and they will stop you driving (confiscate your license or impound car?) if you are found driving with a bulb out.

Its not a legal requirement to carry spare bulbs but its a good idea so you can change the bulb and go on your way. If you need lots of tools to change then perhaps best to get recovered.

It is a legal requirement to carry a warning triangle and high vis for each passenger within reach of the passenger compartment (so you can put it on before exitiing the vehicle).

I lived in France for 20 years and I regularly pass through it once a month. (Although a lot slower now :-( )

I have been done for speeding on numerous occasions in both UK and French registered cars and vans and I have never been asked

about warning triangles, light deflectors, first aid kits, spare light kits. Have your V5, your driving license, passport, insurance documents and HiVis vests.

Speeding at 160KM/H will earn you a 90 Euro fine. If you don't have the cash on you the police will escort you to a cash machine.

If you treat them as humans and don't be a smart arse they will respond in kind. If you don't speed or have an accident, the only time

you might have contact with the police is random Alcohol Breath tests or random vehicle checks late at night.

Never seen these on the Motorway, But I've seen many at lunch time in various towns.
