Been using this app a bit (not on the Z much). Got the fully paid version using a bluetooth dongle from ebay. Well spent monies so far. Just wondering if anyone here know what data you can read from the Z (full version) and if any of the below PIDs work.

PIDS that work out of the box with Torque:

Load

Fuel Level

RPM

Intake Temp

Intake manifold pressure(in kPa)

Coolant Temp

Vacuum/Boost Gauge

Barometric Pressure

Mass air flow rate(in g/s not voltage)

Throttle Position

Timing Advance(Works, at WOT shows near 0 degrees. Yay stock tune!)

Enhanced PIDs you have to manually enter

Long name & short name can be whatever you want. I tried to stick to conventional names.

From what I can remember off the top of my head all these work

I'm sure there's more that i've missed

Load

Speed (OBD)

RPM

MPG

Intake Temp

Coolant Temp

Vacuum/Boost Gauge

Mass air flow rate(in g/s not voltage)

Throttle Position

Timing Advance

Trip distance

Voltage (OBD)

you able to check if it can do the AFR?

And again for us basic english speakers please :)

ok.

you hook a little box into your car (where dealers put a reader into under the steering wheel) then you hook this box up onto your smartphone via bluetooth, install the torque app in the market (andrpoid) I got the paid version. you can then add loads of gauges on your smartphone that can monitor different aspects of your cars data that the ecu collects. CAn read and reset CEL lights too. and do more nice things  drinks battery though so best be is to get a 1amp usb charger for the cig lighter.

with the custom PIDs added

pids =

in the first post

what does PID stand for?

guessing it's like a MIB in networking monitoring terms, it pools the ecu for information on those locations and it gives data back.

Do you know if there's an oil temp sensor as standard and if so is there details to manually calibrate a guage for it? Also can the BHP output be configured for the zed?

I use this app everytime I'm on long drives, it's nice to have the air intake temp but I'd also like the oil temp!

Does anyone else find you have too much info on screen also, I've a 5" screen smartphone and struggle to read the guages unless they're in large limiting me to 6 on the screen. Although I could just be blind!

However this app/reader has helped friends diagnose problems with their cars. Really handy piece of kit!

This is the software I use on my Cooknav thing. It's good, but the OBD2 port is slow for tx'ing data. Not sure about the custom pid's as I didn't use it much, thought it was more of a gimmick to be honest.

okay, could someone break all this down please. I am a proper technophobe and not overly clued up on tech, even though I'm only 25.

So, you need the OBD dongle as per the ebay link earlier. Then attached this to the OBD port on the car.

You then need to add the software to the laptop if you want to use a laptop for the monitoring.

or

Download an app to your smart phone. (what app is best that is available in the UK?)

Then Bluetooth the 2 together. and hey presto, as for skins to match the 350z gauges, thats a whole different story and I wouldnt know where to begin lol

350z's OBD interface is notiriously slow. I found with my CarPC that if you limit it to 3-4 PIDs then it can handle them at a reasonable rate. 370z is supposidly a lot better/quicker but havent tried it out yet.

Rich: PIDs are the OBD parameters it can read

Ooo 350 skins you say? Where can one get hold of these rtbiscuit?

nope its a jag skin :teeth: for my jag :teeth: my dials are all turquoise and i found a special skin that mimics the jag dials with red needles and buttons but turquoise dials :teeth: looks very cool at night B):p
