Blacky Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Sad to hear of the death of Henry Cooper. He was a real hero of my Dad's, as he also boxed and was from south east London. Absolute legend, 3 Lonsdale belts and 2 times winner of sports personality of the year. "Henrys hammer" will be sorely missed and for those who might not know, he put Ali on the floor! Quote
DoogyRev Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 He was a legend, RIP Henry Cooper I see Whispering Ted Lowe died yesterday also .. RIP Quote
Sam Mcgoo Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I actually played Bowls with him once when I was a Kid, about 9 or 10 years old I think. Something I will never forget. He was so friendly and a good sport. I will never forget when he shook my hand...It was MASSIVE!! It was in the paper, " Sam bowls our 'enry over" RIP 'Enry. Quote
Blacky Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 I missed that about Ted Lowe, another sad loss. Quote
Maccaman Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Yeah a sad day for British boxing. I was lucky enough to speak to him once & he was such a very down to earth nice bloke. Quote
JetSet Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Good bloke was Henry. Remember reading about the Triumph Stag he owned...never used it in the rain. Pete Quote
