350 Russ Posted April 5, 2011 Share Posted April 5, 2011 it does sound good, i remember when top gear tested that honda in california that was running on hydrogen and they said it was superb but the problem was obtaining the hydrogen. its the most common substance in the universe but its always stuck to something else and hard to get off putting it simply. this does sound good. would be nice if could buy a kit in say 5 years time to convert a normal car and run it on hydrogen like you can with lpg Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Fossil fuels! Natural gas to be precise, so the Oilies are already in control of it. You could electrolyse it from water, but guess what that takes? Power! And where does most of the power come from? Ricey Posted April 5, 2011 Share Posted April 5, 2011 If a viable long term alternative to fossil fuels was ever put into mass production I reckon the worlds economies would literally melt down and we'd all end up battling one another for the last piece of rat meat in a post apocalyptic wasteland. You cant win, we will destroy the planet, so we may as well have fun now The initial production will cause C02 yes, but once your up and running in the long term savings are to be made + environment saved.... or if you prefer you can run nuclear power create waste that cannot be disposed of and cause radiation... perfect example right now is japan. Your wrong, you can change the whole world to be green its just a matter of money (plenty of money being wasted on fuels that are bad for environment and unkind to environment) and power and the way the human race doesnt like sudden change. tez162003 Posted April 8, 2011 Share Posted April 8, 2011 ah renewable energy talk, I work for a renewable energy company that do biomass, solar (large scale solar farms), tidal but 95% onshore and offshore wind farms, we reached 5GW of total power last year. Anyway, as for 30p fuel. hydrogen will proberly be more expensive to produce than petrol, so if anything it will be more expensive than petrol as the government will not reduce there tax on fuels regardless of how green it is. These companies are not trying to make these fuels to be cheaper for us. Its so that in 50 years time we can still be driving around in cars. Just gotta get use to the fact fuel is expensive, in 10 years time we will look back and go "i wish fuel was as cheap as it was back then" Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
