2nd family car to carry baby and 2yr old

Currently the wife has a mini with baby seat in the front.

New baby arriving in april.

With a bad back hauling either in and out of the back with only 2 doors doesn't look good.

First thought was to get her a 4 or 5dr impreza, but would worry about undesirables carjacking or driving recklessly around her looking to race

So, anyone got 2 sprigs with experience on what car to get?

We've managed for 2 1/2yrs with her mini so have no experience of anything with a boot  .

Don't even know where to start.

Is a golf sized 5dr ok?

4dr saloon?

Estates?

:headhurt:

Have a look in the classifieds. Post up a few cars to see if people have experience. Go to a dealer with all the stuff you need to carry and ask to try it out.

Could stretch to £25k for a keeper. Nothing too old.

We're not the type to change cars often.

Wife's had the mini 5yrs from new and is really sad to have to part with it.

Before that she had a 306 for 10yrs and only sold it when I got the zed and we discovered the joys of AC and heated seats.

I actually hate it but I'm not paying.... A Mini Countryman?

25k is a VERY healthy budget so the world is your oyster really.

What size car, what toys? What does your wife like / dislike?

What about a Subaru Legacy / Outback / Forester? Loads of room for the kiddly-winks, well engineered and solid, likelihood it'll run for years and as long as its serviced regularly be as reliable as the day you bought it.

It all depends wot u need from a car apart from the space and extra doors- economy, equipment, performance, badge etc etc

Narrow it down a bit more then wel give u some options

The car doesn't have to be a performance car.

Just shown wife the some images.

Audi 3's and 4's.

BMW 1's and 3's.

Golf's.

Leon's

4x4's.

Getting no, no, no

Only thing so far she fancies is a ford Kuga or the older model imprezas.

I might end up buying a cheap older focus until she finds something she likes at this rate
