MH05 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 There's a few cheap ones on here http://dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk/ ... efix2.y=32 They start to get into silly money for the older style ones but £255 seems pretty reasonable Ryan Quote

MH05 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 To be honest yes, can you you get your initials ie **57 ZED? That would look good something a bit personal as well then. Quote
Dano190485 Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 na do57 zed isnt availible so not to sure what to have thought about gd 57 zed Quote
martinmac Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 If you can get one at a reasonable price go for it. The secret is to get a combo that the dvla dont realise is worth money. Quote
Dano190485 Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 also thought of ee55 off what u think of that Quote
LRF4N Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 On the dvla site go to current style search and keep it **** ZED and flick thru all the ones available ul get a few good ones Quote
Stew Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 If you find a combination you are happy with then buy it. It doesn't make a difference if we like it or not. I have a 'name' plate which I really like and won't sell. I have had a car one in the past too. I think it finishes off a car. Quote
Stew Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 AB51 is the start of my work postcode! There are quite a lot of AB51 cars running about here! Quote
evilscorp Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Anyone used this website before? http://www.platesforcars.co.uk/designer.php Ordered some new plates but havent had any word or money taken from my account? placed the order yesterday. Also how hard is it to cut number plates with a saw as i want it to fit in my new bumper and need to shave down the sides a little, so its 14inch at the top and 13inch at the bottom. Quote

I always use platecreator and they are very good. number plates can shatter/crack if you're not careful. Quote

Also make sure it stays legal when you cut it. Have a search on my numberplate saga, the regulations were posted multiple times. Quote
Watshot Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 From my experience, I noticed that a lot of the specialist dealers don't actually own the plates they advertise, they just know that they are available. If you see one you like it's always worth checking whether it's available through the DVLA which tends to be the cheapest source. Dealers will just mark it up to make a profit, which is fair enough, but worth checking anyway. Quote

My dad was going to buy a 'matching plate' to the one he has for his toy. It was advertised at £1800 I think and Dad offered £1500 then £1700..... 3 years later the same site has it advertised for £4000 or £4500. Surely selling it would have made more sense. Quote
evilscorp Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Mine arrived 2day and they are great, just trimed the sides a bit but kept all the manufacturer details etc, so should b legal. Quote

Did you check the regulations? They vary on pre and post 2001 marks. Obviously I don't care if it's legal or not but it's always better to be prepared incase you meet hitler cop. Ignorance isn't bliss in this situation. Quote
