+1, got them on mine, supplied with the car brand new in July when I didn't know any better, they are completely and utterly pants in the wet, get rid, I am, tomorrow

Having driven an RX8 with nearly 100bhp less and RE040's on I would urge you to get them off and if possible burn them to ensure no one can put them on their car.

They are fecking DEADLY..........picking yourself out of a twisted tangle of metal will ensue.

I must be the only one who prefers RE040a's over stuff like Toyos and Falken 452's etc.

I've never driven on RE050a's but the RE040's had a nice stiff sidewall, were very progressive to let go when they were about to lose grip if you pushed them too hard so it was easily judgeable to correct if you know how to drive. As others have said, get some heat in to them and they far supass any of the toyo and falken tyres in terms of performance.

I only hope the 50's have the same sidewalls as the 40's as they will be what Im going to next when I get rid of these jelly sidewalled Falkens.

Kwik Sh*t tried to screw me a while back on an old car. Tried telling me that the rear brake calipers were shot and my disks needed replacing. Saw that car being hoisted by the technician (ahem) who then proceeded to do the work I'd actually brought the car in for, next thing I see the manger walk out side from behind the counter and go and speak with the mechanic. 5 minutes later the mechanic comes back and tells me that I've got problems with my brake calipers. I looked at the manager and asked the guy if he'd been told to say that. He looked slightly embarrassed and muttered something unintelligible. Told him that I'd had the car serviced by a specialist garage who had checked the car throughly because I was having issues with the brakes, they found a stone embedded in one of the pads and no other issues, and that was the day before.

To this day I will not ever go to those thieving, lying b**tards, especially not with my zed. I'd rather hack off my own limbs with a rusty hacksaw!!!

Never used Quik-Fit but I've heard many stories of them ripping people off, usually females as they think they are easy targets. The problem is, the people who run the particular garage have stupid targets. They have to sell XX amount of tyres, XX amount of pads and discs. They hire cheap staff so they can maximise profit. 99% of people who use Quik-Fit drive "ordinary" cars, I wonder if their eyes light up when someone drives in with a Zed.

Had to take the other halfs lease car there as they have the tyre contract. Two tyres: "no problem, be about an hour". Returned in an hour "still waiting for approval from Leaseplan". Sat down, ten minutes later, all done. Got home, checked pressures and bolt torques, discovered that they hadn't been balanced. One way of making up time I suppose. I wouldn't trust them with a roller skate, certainly wouldn't go anywhere near them with anything I owned.

i used sh1T fit when i had my first car to replace a backbox on my old rover 214. they offered to check the car over and told me my alternator was on the way out. i kept a very straight face and went along with it.

"how do you know its on its way out"

"wow thats interesting"

"are you sure"

"really"

"as i fitted a brand new one last week"

should have seen his face, caught red handed; that was the last business i ever sent them; also only got charged for the parts and no labour be  cause of their little faux pa.

I had an issue about 6-7 years ago where HI-Q fitted my rears on our MR2 turbo the wrong way round. Next morning I went straight over the roundabout at the bottom of Ilkeston (for those that are from round notts way) at a little under 30mph and as I went round the rbout back end just came straight out no warning and put us into a very bad spin ended up facing a van the wrong way and stalled it.

Scared the proverbials out of me and the wife and couldve have been very messy. I thought there was something roung with the suspension etc took it straight to our local toyota dealer who pointed at the tyre rotation.

When I went back to Hi-Q the response was "the rotation wouldnt make any difference" :bang: . No apology no nothing. This is the level of stupidity and lack of professionalism from these sort of monkey outfits (my opinion before the legal people get uptight).

I wonder if he'd have had the same response if someone would have been hurt.

last time i used Kwik fit was when i had left it to the last minute to sort out an MOT and so it wasn't really out of choice.

i knew i needed to get a tyre sorted and a chip in my windscreen done, so i went down and asked them to sort this and check my other tyres and the balancing and then booked it in for the actual MOT in 2 days time.

So it then comes to the MOT and i get a call that my car has failed the MOT, so i go down to find out the reason for that to be told that I need 3 new tyres. Needless to say I mentioned the fact that they had only had the car two days ago and failed to spot this even thoughi had asked them to check and they had supposedly balanced these dangerous tyres and let me drive off with out mentioning it.

I'd rather just get a load of £20 notes and set fire to them than go to Kwik Fit, quciker, cheaper and the results are the same.
