  1. Always nice to see a new zed fanatic join the ranks!
  2. Cheers ZMANALEX Coming from someone with your legendary status, I shall leave well alone. A straight re-furb it is then.
  3. Dear Zeders As fastidious as I am about keeping the Zed clean, the fact that although fully covered but not garaged, means it's open to the elements. It's not ideal but I live with it.....begrudgingly Anyway, because of this open environment scenario my Nismo LM GT4 have started to suffer. The usual paint bubbling etc. On the whole it's not that bad, just niggling spots here and there, you wouldn't notice, but I know it's there and it bugs me. So I'm looking to get them re-furbed, which will also mean I can get rid of minor kerbing on one of them. My question to all y'all is really to gauge opinion. I'm toying with the idea of changing the colour of them to either gloss black or a gunmetal grey metallic. The Zed is a sunset and I've seen this done to others, but not on Nismo GT4s.....so I'd really like opinions on if I should do it, or whether I should leave well alone and just stick with a straight re-furb. Would a re-colour effect the value or not? Thank you all!
  4. I've used Ancaster in Croydon for servicing and MOT a few occasions. So far I've had no issues with them and in fact they've been pretty respectful of my OCD requests when I've used them They've happily serviced my Wolf filter using the oil I gave them and not tried to force their own products on to me. Changed out the OEM gear knob for a Nismo one I gave them and respected my request to reverse up any inspection ramps if required to make sure there's no damage to my Nismo aero kit. No extra charges and they honoured the forum discount too!!! Obviously I can't comment on anything outside of my experience with them, but I'd say you're pretty safe with them. Just remember to tell them that you're a forum member and it should give you some kudos which will hopefully convert into respect and care for you and your Zed
  5. I actually felt physically sick after reading that post
  6. Cheers Mike I had a look at the covers and they certainly look good, but I've gone with Hamilton. A very helpful chap there recommended that I purchase the cover to fit Skyline GT-R. He said that because it's longer and has an elasticated surround, in his experience it's fitted nicely on a Z with an aerokit. I'm waiting for it to arrive, then I'll give the Z a good wash and shine and check the fit of the cover. I'll give an appraisal on the forum in case anyone else is looking for a cover.
  7. Thanks for the response Ricey and the link. I could be wrong, but I think the standard Nissan Z cover won't fit over a full Nismo kit, the spoiler is pretty big and makes it awkward, hence I've had to look elsewhere for another solution. Thanks for taking the time to post. Cheers buddy!
  8. Dear All I'm having to face the inevitable truth! Petrol prices are on the rise STILL!!! Like the pathetic 1p cut in the budget will really impact on anyones wallet, but let's not get started on that. So with that being said, I'm having to confront the fact that my beauty isn't going to get as much use and will have to be confined to weekend drives only That has led me to consider using a car cover to keep the Z clean and protected from the elements. Now I know that using a cover isn't perhaps ideal, but I don't have a garage and there's not one close by I could consider renting. I'm also aware of the possible pitfalls of using a cover i.e. condensation build up etc. However I did a search around t'internet and came across this company offering the following: http://www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk/acatal ... erCar.html I read through the info and it sounds like this would be ideal, breathable, fleece lined etc. The only possible snag is the fact that I've got the full Nismo Aero kit fitted and the standard cover they offer might not fit. I've emailed them to ask their advice and I'm awaiting their reply. What I want to ask you collective bunch of intelligent Zedites is, has anyone come across these guys before or had any experience with these type of covers and if so what's the opinion? Thanks in advance y'all, I know I'll get the right info and opinions here!
  9. I love the 370z but I'm really not impressed with the Nismo styling for the LM's and Aerokit. In my opinion they really nailed it with the 350z, but the on 370z....not so hot.
  10. Kwik Sh*t tried to screw me a while back on an old car. Tried telling me that the rear brake calipers were shot and my disks needed replacing. Saw that car being hoisted by the technician (ahem) who then proceeded to do the work I'd actually brought the car in for, next thing I see the manger walk out side from behind the counter and go and speak with the mechanic. 5 minutes later the mechanic comes back and tells me that I've got problems with my brake calipers. I looked at the manager and asked the guy if he'd been told to say that. He looked slightly embarrassed and muttered something unintelligible. Told him that I'd had the car serviced by a specialist garage who had checked the car throughly because I was having issues with the brakes, they found a stone embedded in one of the pads and no other issues, and that was the day before. To this day I will not ever go to those thieving, lying b**tards, especially not with my zed. I'd rather hack off my own limbs with a rusty hacksaw!!!

  12. Some days I get no squeaks and others it sounds like the mouse had babies It's certainly a common issue. I've got the squeak coming from the dash but it's a little loose so that certainly contributing. It's an easy fix, just haven't got round to doing it. Also squeak from the rear strut/brace, which again sounds like the trim. One thing I have noticed is that when it's winter it's more frequent, during the summer it doesn't really happen all that often and so would appear to be heat/cold expansion and contraction
  13. I recently had the same problem, however when I took it to my local specialist garage they said that it was really not worth trying to weld it back together. Mine had corroded around the bolt plate where the back box and main pipe join together. Welding is a quick fix, this is true, but if you live in an area where there's lots of speed humps, which let's face it is pretty much the entire country, then it's probably not the best route. Don't forget the car will flex a little as you drive, especially when going over speed humps and this could potentially weaken the welding. If the welding goes then you're worse off than if you just bought a new ex system. The OEM parts are fine but if you're replacing like for like, then surely you're going to find the same thing happens again as it seems to be known issue. In my opinion you could do a lot worse than Scorpion. They look good, sound great (not too noisy and has a nice note) and they're reasonably priced, plus they're stainless steel and come with a lifetime guarantee, so no corrosion problems. Had mine fitted about 3 months ago and I'm loving it. Admittedly I had a couple teething problems (not hanging correctly and centre pipe vibrated at low revs) but the guys who fitted it were really good and corrected the issues without fuss.
  14. Very sad news indeed! I pray for strength, courage and healing for both Ian and Hayley's respective family and friends.
  15. Awesome, nice simple fix then. I'll have a poke around the rear fnar, fnar and check it out. Thanks guys!
  16. So, finally got my Scorpion exhaust fitted and sounds fruity!!!! Only problem is I get a rattle at low revs or going over bumpy surfaces/roads, which living in London is pretty much all the time!! If it's not poorly maintained roads, it speed bumps everywhere grrrrrrrrrr Anyway, I'm not entirely certain where the rattle emanates, I checked all the hangers and the pipe down to the cat and all seem stable, although having looked underneath I noticed that the pipe to the cat sits between a cross brace and the the floor pan and there's very little clearance, so I think that the pipe is vibrating against the two. Does anyone have any ideas how I might eliminate this, if indeed that's what's happening. Anyone experienced this before? Cheers in advance y'all
  17. Got one on ebay Marcus, checked out the seller and they're reputable, although they only had one but I suspect that's a ploy to get people to buy quick! The seller is ppd-uk, so search them out and I reckon there'll be another one listed! Good Luck
  18. OK I've been convinced, tis bought and paid for, one Scorpion exhaust system on it's way . For the sake of spending an extra ton on something which I know will fit and work, compared to a sloppily engineered load of toilet that will probably cost me more to put right.......it's a no brainer! Thanks to all for the advice!
  19. Hmmm the seller got back to me and said it was Japspeed. After reading the horror stories here about them not fitting properly I'm not sure. Are they really that bad? Scorpion is looking like the best alternative but it's pushing my price a little. Can someone give me some pointers on who's the best place to purchase from?
  20. Dear 350z Geniuses I have to buy a new back box as my stock one has corroded around the bolt plate where the y-pipe and the back box join on one side. I checked with a auto place close to home to see if it could be welded, but they recommended replacing not fixing which to be honest was what I was expecting. My dilemma now is which back box to buy. Obviously I'm gonna go for stainless steel as it will last longer and I spotted the following on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-350Z-Z33-S ... 374wt_1025 Anyone know who manufacturers this one? It doesn't state on the listing so I've contacted the seller to enquire. It would be helpful to know if it's a good quality replacement or if I should look elsewhere. If anyone has dealt with this particular seller I'd be grateful for opinions! Also if anyone has any alternative suggestions around the same price and where to buy that would also be helpful. Thanks y'all
  21. Whatever happened to public information adverts about road safety......I mean I know there few running currently but they don't seem to be making an impact (excuse the pun). Had some no brained herbert kid run out from the front of a bus whilst I was passing. I had just passed the rear of the bus when he appeared, he saw me hesitated and then made a dash. By this time he was about 2 foot away from me, so no time to swerve or stop, fortunately I was only doing about 10mph at the time and I only glanced him. I stopped to see if he was alright and he walked over and started giving me grief!!!! I told him that he made an idiotic decision to run across the road when hidden behind the bus and how was I supposed to of seen him and that he was at fault. He then had the cheek to say to me that I should move along before I get hurt What makes me laugh is that there's a pedestrian crossing 2 meters from the bus stop, why not use it? Checked the car over and there's a dent on the wheel arch, some scratches and some chipped paint work. One kids stupid decision gonna cost me a few hundred....arrrrhhh
  22. Thanks chaps for the advice! I had tried the two grip method before I posted but no joy there so looks like replacing the valves is the only option.
  23. Thanks my friend, it's certainly my pride and joy!
  24. Yep the sunset one is mine! And you're right, Full Nismo kit but USDM skirts and Nismo LM GT4's
  25. Dear forum geniuses Got a small issue with my valve caps I have Richbrook security valve caps, the type with the rotating aluminum sleeve that require a key to twist the cap off. The problem I've got is that the caps on the rear wheels are stuck tight and now the key is busted so I can't unscrew them. I managed to take the sleeve off one of the caps and used some grips to try and remove the cap, but no joy, instead of the cap rotating the whole valve starts to turn So my question is, does anyone have any bright ideas on how I can remove them or should I just have the valves replaced? It seems like the thread has shredded on the caps so it might be impossible, but if anyone has any bright ideas it would be welcome. Thanks y'all
