Which warranty please!?

HI Guys

I am buying a used 350z, 46000 miles, 05.

Picking it up tmrw after a fresh MOT is put on it.

Would you say its worth getting a warranty and if so with who?

I dont think anyone will cover the clutch as it is wear and tear, but other than this does anyone have any guidance on this?

More importantly should i go with a Nissan warranty or somewhere like warranty direct?

thanks for any help, heres hoping i never need to use a warranty!

Was a long discussion on the porsche forum I was on and warranty wise or warranty direct seemed to be the best of a bad bunch, but were certainly not getting a glowing recommendation. Not sure if any of the specialist indys do a plan ? that was a good deal with some of the porsche specialists.

In saying that I did get a quote for £671 from warranty direct but wont be going with it, instead Ive opened a new wee saver account that will be my car emergency fund :teeth:

Waste of money IMHO - the best 'insurance' is to make sure the car has been properly checked before buying it.

+1 They cover so little, had one on my van, cost me£400,inj pump went, claimed on warrenty final bill came to £1900 they paid the first 1k,my local mechanic said he could of done the whole job for 1k,would of saved me £300 not having it :rant:

Thanks guys, not sure what to do with this! I am not mechnical so had hoped for peace of mind from a warranty!

I will be test driving tmrw, so if you have any advice on what to look for that would be really appreciated.

I am aware of clicking from the drive shaft? Not sure if this is a deal breaker or not?

Also the sync issues for 4 -5/6 in gear changes?

So again if anyone has any advice or tips on what to test for when driving it would be great , again i am not mechanical so it is all new to me.

thanks

1st to second gear change is usually poor when cold. thats the only issue ive had with my gearbox on my 06 uk car

i have the actual extended nissan warranty that you can only get when the car is still under the original warranty. Havent had any issues claiming. It is alot of money and i wont be putting it on next year as ive put far tooo much different parts on it now to justify asking nissan to fix.

Any details/links you can post up of the car concerned?

Anyone in the brum area who might be able to help scotchegg by having a look at the car?

I'm in a Nissan Centre now & asked about extending the warranty (my zed is just under 3 years old). I'm being told that it can only be extended at the point of purchasing the car!

Oh well.

Cheers,

Geo
