slimjim Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 OK, So after lots and lots of help from you all, I finally have some good tires on my back wheels! So, how do I bed them in? Do I need to drive gently for a couple of hundred miles? Do a 40-50 second burn out? What do I have to do? Cheers peeps! Quote
Neilp Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 drop it like its hot! lol just joking, take your time, no point in destroying half your money on the first run Quote
Ekona Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Depending on tyre, up to 500 miles average driving. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 as above about 500 miles, depends on the tyre and how much release agent they use. toyos are pretty bad for it. and don't do a burn out on new tyres, the rubber is heat sensitive and need a few heat cycles in them to be at their best then they are fine. if you burn out on fresh tyres it can make them not as effective as they could be. DoogyRev Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I have recently had new Falkens all round and would agree with the 500 miles to bed in The first 50 or so felt a bit slippery, but now its so much more grippy. Just take it gently, you will feel the difference after a few hundred miles Quote
slimjim Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 Yeah, they felt awful, really slippy on the way back from the tire place. They are the Vredestien Ultrac-Sessanta's.... So I need to take it easy for 500 miles ish? ..... Will do! Cheers guys. Quote
Husky Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 vredestiens are pretty well known for lots of release agent. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 you do realise we're in the UK we have tyres, not tires Quote
Husky Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 or bedding in new things tires him out Quote
Chris`I Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 As above take it easy for 50-100 miles then start to lean on the tyres more throughout the corners building up to 500 miles, then they should be good to go. Quote
slimjim Posted September 22, 2010 Author Posted September 22, 2010 vredestiens are pretty well known for lots of release agent. Which means.....? They WILL be slick/slippery for the first few hundred miles? Quote
