Fairy Liquid does the job great! Makes the paint feel horrible when it has no protection on it, make sure you definately allow time to wax it afterwards, dont leave it with no protection :headhurt:

I wouldn't put Fairy Liquid anywhere near a car of mine, far too aggressive. Do it properly with a decent clay + lube, and then build up your layers.

Washing up liquid will do it.

Any concentrated shampoo with a pile of shampoo in it will work too.

Does this mean that even using a solution of Meguiars NXT Shampoo that is too concentrated will start to strip my wax layer off the car? I normally put a big bollop of the stuff in my ucket without measuing it

Indeed it can. Megs Gold class shampoo will strip wax right off if too much is used. In fact that's all I use it for!

How long before what? You strip it, clay it, polish it, seal it, wax it....... All asap :)

+1 - do not clay and polish unless you intend to wax/seal it there and there or keep in it in a garage til you do. Polishing removes any protection on the paint, it gets you back to bare paint, clean ready to seal/wax, do not leave it bare to the elements ;)
