Voodoo Posted January 5, 2010 Share Posted January 5, 2010 Hi, I've recently had the p3 service at a Nissan main dealer and I asked they replace the standard air filter with the nismo replacement part which was done along with a clean of the fuel injectors. She's done 26000 miles and a 2005 GT4 car. A week later the engine warning light came on and the dealer reset the ecu and said that I may have to have the sensor replaced if it came on again,2 weeks later it came on just before Christmas. The cars running fine, perhaps a little more growly at idle which levels off but that may be down to the freezing weather. I took the car back to the dealer today and a GT-R performance qualified tech diagnosed that I would need a new throttle body. The fault on both times was P2135 TP Sensor. I've been quoted £1300 for the part plus another £80-100 labour. My question is, is there any way to avoid / reduce this big bill considering its already had a reset been looked at before? rtbiscuit Posted January 5, 2010 Share Posted January 5, 2010 thats very easy to reduce the cost of this, don't go to nissan, they are the biggest bunch of ripoff artists, and they aren't the best at diagnosing problems as their technicians aren't that familiar with the car. whats your location, i'm sure there is a better performance garage nearby. also Zmanalex or R35LEE can get you parts cheaper as well. Voodoo Posted January 5, 2010 Author Share Posted January 5, 2010 Thanks for that - I'm in SW London - My logic was that if it needs the part and its the bulk of the bill then its just an hour labour to fit so a specialist wouldn't add value as they'll have to buy the part from Nissan too. rtbiscuit Posted January 5, 2010 Share Posted January 5, 2010 i don't think your not that far from abbey motorsport. there are several based round the m25 area also DMS are near the dartford crossing/brandshatch area. both are worth travelling for as both are very experienced with the Zeds you'll probably find you don't need a new throttle body, i think i had that code once. possibly set off when you had the filter fitted, they may have knocked the throttle body, the butterfly valve is very sensitive and doesn't like to be disturbed. i'd do a throttle posisition reset and an ECU reset and then see how you get on. ZMANALEX Posted January 5, 2010 Share Posted January 5, 2010 I can help with a preowned throttle body mate but before you send over your hard earned to me I would suggest that you give the throttle body a gentle internal clean taking care not to the "disturb" the butterfly. I would also carry out a throttle body reset as has previously been suggested. I would also give the MAF sensor a clean and make sure that they have not over oiled your new panel filter. If at the end of the day you find that you do require a throttle body, then just drop me a pm and I can ship out the same day. Cheers, Alex. Mark@Abbey m/s Posted January 5, 2010 Share Posted January 5, 2010 We have seen this a couple of times , you need to remove the plastic cover and clean and lubricate the idler spindle. fairly easy to be honest. rtbiscuit Posted January 5, 2010 Share Posted January 5, 2010 its like drugs when it comes to nissan servicing/maintainence "just say no!" i bet your total expenditure on this will be about £10 for lubricante. this website just saved you £1300 not bad for a night work. worst case scenerio is you have to make a trip to abbey, and thats not going to break the bank.
