It has responded to a gentle push at this point, giving the impression that something is slightly out of shape or is out of alignment, but no longer. Are there any other soft top owners who have had this experience and found a self help solution? Quote

martinmac Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 There is an occasional issue with two of the struts getting sticky. They almost always respond to a bit of light greasing. If you search 350z tsb there is a full explanation of which ones are most prone to the problem. Welcome to the forum by the way. Quote

maz77 Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 this happens to mine if I dont open the top for long periods (couple of time last winter). I dont resolve to pushing instead just close it from that point and open it again. sounds like a greasing job as martin pointed out above Quote

It got to the last fold and stopped but I brought it up and back down and all was well. Is there a how to on the greasing or is it just a matter of putting some spray grease on all the joints? Quote

MartinMac - not sure what 350Z tsb is - sorry. Yes I will post some info and pics - over the hols. The 350Z is a totally standard 2005 Azure Blue with 15K miles - everyday transport is a much improved and remapped V70 T5 auto. Quote
stanski Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Seems a common problem - also the material stiffens up this time of year and motors need to work harder to close. Just ensure the roof is dry before you fold it. It will close eventually - you need to help it at first then grease up the arched rail at the back either side where the plastic rollers slide over it.
