Sorry to hear that Dave.

Certainly puts things into perspective Stew. Basically he went downhill very quickly over the past week and was diagnosed with liver failure and was put to sleep by the local vet tonight. We took him home and i have just finished burying him in the garden.

He had a good life but even that does not make it easy. Thanks Nixy.

My mums dog is in the vets at the moment as it was throwing up and wouldnt eat or drink. They had to put him on a drip in the end, should hear today whats up, hopefully not bad news. She'd be deverstated if he doesnt recover

(Un)fortunately, Inky has done this before. He eats random crap at some point, gets an upset stomach, and then dehydrates himself. I'm quietly confident that a night on a drip will have him up and licking everyone in sight again. At least I hope so, hes not even 3yrs old yet, so plenty of youthfulness to fight it off

Ahh he will be ok then. Chuck was an old man and in the end old age crept up on him very quickly.

Just seen this, Dave. Really sad news. Its just one of things we let ourselves in for when we bring a pet into our lives - the joy they bring makes it worthwhile but the pain of losing them doesn't get any easier. Chin up! :console:

Thanks guys. Was really hard coming home tonight to see his lead hanging up in the porch and not hearing his little feet tapping along the floor whilst on his way to greet you. But he had a great life and did not suffer so i am thankful for that

That is the trouble with all pets..........you love them and they become part of your life..........then one day they are gone. Hopefully it will be a very long time before that day happens with my Dog. Feel for you Dave. :byebye:

Sorry to hear this, Unfortunately our 13yr old Golden retriever is going to be put down tomorow :byebye: Same reasons as hes not eating etc had a really bad illness last year but made a recovery but in the vet notes it seems he was only to last aother year or to and he's basically starving himself to death. Doesnt make it any easier though.

sorry to hear this. I found that when I took my last dog to be out down, I took his bed. So he was used to something familiar in a strange place. Be prepared not get the bed back though as it will get messed.
