Cragus Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Hey Gurjeet, Glad they have admitted full liability! I don't think a refurb will compromise the wheels but the fact is you have to go to the hassle of leaving your with them again.....any small compensation? .....don't let them do anything else to your car as compensation. No free services... Quote
Danny 350Z Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Truely gutted for you. Hopefully they'll rectify perfectly! I bet your heart sank when you were finding all the damage. Quote
Gurjeet Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 danny, it was not fun, i'll tell ya. What do you guys think an appropriate compensation is for something of this magnitude? Especially since I will have to drive the dreaded Nissan Note for the interim! Quote
BulletMagnet Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Well obviously this refurb will be on them, so possibly ask for a 50% refund on the one you did pay for? If you get to cheeky it might happen again or some mysterious fault will appear down the line... Quote
nurrish Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Id say get them to give you an extended test drive in a 370z Quote
Cragus Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 I would say a tyre free since they have wasted your time...plus your alloys had only been refurbed a week prior. Not to mention petrol going back and forth etc Quote
Gurjeet Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 the original refurb was under warranty, along with the clicky axle repair and the skipping head unit, which i have to admit was dealt with without fuss. the free tyre idea seems intriguing, might try that. Quote
Stew Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Hmmmm, that was easy. Although they have royally messed up at least they are good enough to put it right! Quote
nixy Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 I agree, you have to give them a bit of credit for the response. Quote
jerry3167 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Glad you got a good result! But Jeeez, the staff need pulling up and booked on a "How to handle Alloys" Course ASAP!!! Quote
3FIDDYZ Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 toyos have a great knack of feeling terrible when first fitted, i had it on my old car when i had some, thought the tyre walls were like jelly. reason is the release agent that they put in the moulds when they make the tyres. takes about 400 miles to wear away. just take it steady till you've used a full tank of fuel with them. Its not really just toyo's, its any new tyres.. They all need a few miles to "bed in" Quote
M13KYF Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Just back from dealer. Service manager was there, took one look, apologised, said they would take care of all damage immediately, going back on monday to agree on solution and timescale. Very decent about it. On one hand happy, on the other I was spoiling for a fight. My question - will this affect the wheels long term if they are refurbed? I assume this will be the solution offered to me on monday. at least they are on the back foot. Don't back down until your entirely happy I never had a problem with toyos' even when first fitted. Gurjeet Posted June 14, 2009 Author Posted June 14, 2009 finally got the car back. alloys refurbed for the second time but looking good. somewhat of an irritating experience but glad its sorted. not sure i am going to go back to them again. initially they accepted responsibility, then denied it, then accepted again. I do not appreciate being given the runaround. Quote
T2 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Glad you got it all sorted did you get any freebies off them ? and are the new tyres feeling like they have any grip now Quote
Gurjeet Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 no freebies, was so fed up in the end just wanted to get it sorted. Just back from a long trip to nottingham and back, went to see the cricket at trent bridge. Tyres have now bedded in, they really are quite good. excellent handling in the wet. Quote
