Hi All!

Wanting to lower my Z but not wanting to go as far as coilovers. Had coils on last car and speedbumps, dips in road were my biggest fear :headhurt::lol: if only sat nav could create a route to avoid them B) .

So im thinking of the Tein S Line Kit 30-40mm if im correct? Has anyone fitted suspension themself on a ZED? Easy done or is it one for the garage?

Thanks

Andy

Any chance of seniding me some pics aswell whilst your at it or is there a how-to guide floating about.

Im stuck between buying coilovers or just getting springs at the moment based purely on cost. Has anyone got any pictures they could send me or post with a 30-40mm drop on 18's. what size wheels have you got Andy

Dont mean to hijack your thread Andy but im just in the same boat.

The drop on the Eibach pro kit is spot on in my opinion.

Popular choice for springs only, £205.00 delivered for members, labelled as 30mm drop front and rear but its closer to about 27/28mm...

More than that (on springs only) and I think you'd be running into major difficulties. One thing to note though is that standard wheels look rubbish when the car is lowered. If you aren't planning on changing the wheels it might be an idea to look into spacers too.

cue CS stage left to centre with price! ;)

after lowering, would it be required to sort the camber?

Yes indeed... Camber kits can be had from as little as £35.00...

Steve,

Whats the price for the camber kits, and if you dont plan on lowering on eibachs, would you still get a kit?

Jerry :)

Jerry, the price of camber kits are £35.00 for the bolt kit, I had a none forum member who bought the Tein springs and he needed to buy the camber kit with them…

Im going to change the wheels too but wanting to do suspension 1st, ive found in the past it looks odd with big wheels and riding like a 4x4 :scare: . Is there much difference in quality between 5 zigen and Volk?

:) Thanks Steve, Is this the FRONT and REAR eibach camber kit? :)

Only rear jerry, the front requires replacement arms (£300+) but are not needed. The front doesnt go wildly out of spec when lowered like the rear does.

You do however NEED some sort of rear TOE/Camber adjustment, it goes miles out.

Also people seem way to worried about camber, you can run 3deg no worries, its the toe going out of spec that will wear out your tyres and make the car handle like a dog.

If you fit springs, you have to factor in 4 wheel alignment + possibly Toe/Camber adjusters at the rear

The OEM setup does have some adjustment for toe/camber, it just might not be enough.

  • 6 months later...

An older thread I know but I'm looking at the Tein springs (appreciate the Eibachs are better quality but I can't be doing with the hassle of speed bumps etc due to the bigger drop) and there seems to be no certain answer about the rear camber kit, and whether it's needed or not.

What I don't want is to fit the springs then have the alignment done, only to find that I need the camber kit as well in order to make the required adjustments! This would then mean going back into the garage and paying for alignment all over again...
