Chris`I
Excuse me, mine is a UK car from new! Sorry bud, but then how the hell did you get it cheaper? I thought the only way to pay less tax was on imports that were classified as light goods vehicals or whatever it is? Ian: looks like you got unlucky and they classified your car correctly and charge you the "right" amount of tax. Some imports come in as light goods vehicals and get lighter tax because of it

No idea, but I'll take it since they've just adjusted my tax code, again!

Sarnie
The tax based on when the car was registered in the uk? An 02 import may not of been brought to this country till after the cut off date which is around March 2006 i think. Therefore uk 04 cars registered in 04 will qualify for the lower tax. I'm here all week.

nixy
I think with imports its more to do with whether or not the local DVLA office know what they are doing and if they know what the hell a fairlady is! In some cases the emmissions are listed as zero (in other words they don't know), the car is classified PLG and the tax is therefore ***cough*** £185 If you go to the DVLA tax your vehicle on line page you can do a vehicle check to see the tax liability. (and you can do that on anybody's car if you know the reg and make)

Sarnie
mine was bought over in June 07 and its 185 quid. Isn't that because yours is incorrectly listed as a PLG?
