Changing sparking plugs on the Z

I need to change the plugs as they have been in since 2006 and have 57,000 on the clock, they are not playing up but according to the service manual they should be changed but having never worked on the engine before I am wondering just how much of a challenge, I have the plugs and plenty of suitable tools or is it a garage job.

Easy enough job providing you take your time, I used to do mine every couple of years because spark plugs are a cheap way to keep the best performing and running engine. 

 

Remove the airbox (two if you have a HR) and make sure not to touch the throttle body butterfly (s) and then simply work your way round one at a time. Do that, follow torque specifications and you'll be fine.

It's a slow job on the Zed compared to some cars. A few bits to remove to get to all the plugs. But it's straight forward, no bolts are going to be stuck or anything.

Thanks for your advice which parts need to torque down and where do I find those specs

From the service manual.

 

Torque is show as N-m (kg-m, ft-lb)

So 19.6N-m (2.0 kg-m, 14 ft-ib)

A straight forward DIY, just take your time and be methodical.

 

Common mistake is for peeps to get the coil pack wiring looms mixed up.

 

Also, watch for engine oil on the bottom of the coil packs, if so I have the fix for this in stock.

 

If first time, then allow 3 hours.

 

Denso Iridium plugs are in stock which are good for 48,000 miles.

If you've not done it before on the Z or any other V6 or V style engine, just do one at a time so you don't give yourself a headache when you connect the coil connectors in the wrong order.
