New member advice from the pros please

Hi, new member here from Tyne and Wear. Got a 05 350z with a front end rattle over uneven surfaces. Can't find anything loose underneath. Slight play on offside banana bar compared to left side but no noise when I pull on it? I've heard this is common, just want your opinion before I fork out for one. Thanx in advance, Marky.

Is it a metallic rattle? Have you checked the exhaust/heatshields?

If you can find an uneven (cobbled roads work well) surface and trundle over slowly to create the noise on demand, I'd bet money it's the banana bar (it could be either end). It's notoriously difficult to do up in the air as you can't easily exert a comparable force with a pry bar.

 

Even if you replace and it turns out to be something else, you can rest in the knowledge it was going to go anyway! Good luck.

Cheers lads. I’ll replace the offside banana arm and see what happens. Any idea where’s cheapest to go for these. Dealers charging about £360, found an ad at £250. Where do you lads shop?

Hey Marky, welcome to the forum. As has already been said, the banana arm can be a pig to diagnose, but ZmanAlex is the guy to go to.
