So I can change this thing without the clutch etc needing done and how much is that roughly?? lol (feel the panic in my typing.. love discovering new things:dry::lol:)

If youre doing preventative, get the belts changed as well. My alternator belt went on a trackday at Snetterton, fortunately the battery lasted the day but it died just as I was leaving the gate ......... sub optimal.

Lol I wouldn’t worry about it (I’m not, and I love to worry). 

Drive it and if it goes then do it. I don’t think the clutch has to come out though

I worry about body damage, worn part generally give a chance for upgrade. A few months after ownership of my 05' GT, the diff bush started leaking. I didn't have to replace it but in wanting to take my car on track I figured it was only something that was going to get worst. This gave chance for upgrade and £350 less in my pocket, which is the cost of a clutch replacement for most hatchbacks.
