For those that do not know, i went on my Prince-2 practitioner course back on the 11th Feb and i just got a letter today saying that i passed. :teeth:

This involved theory for a few weeks leading up to the course and then a foundation exam on the Thursday and a final exam on the friday. It was a lot of hard work and i did about 3 hours every night when i got home of extra studying to make sure i was up on everything and it has paid off.

So now...all hail...Louis the Prince 2 practitioner :teeth:

but WTF a practitioner course ??

basically there are two parts, if you pass the foundation you can be prince-2 qualified but only to foundation level. Practitioner means that you have the full qualification and are eligable to practice project management knowing that you have the full Prince-2 qualification.

I.e. i can earn a lot more money going forward as i have a full project management qualification :yahoo:

What sort of project management ? building ??
The course is not specific as the skills in the methodology are transferable to any industry that i would like to go into. However i would say building would involve a lot more courses and i think more experience as it is so specialist. However Prince gives you the tools to go out and find out what you need to do from the relevant key people and manage the project that way.

As a project manager i do not need to know about the industry i am working in (however i belive it helps more than anything as you know when people are not telling the truth and it helps you manage by exception better) as they are just tools for delivering a project.

Next on the cards is PMI as that is the methodology seen as a top qualification in the states

WOW I SOUND ALL GROWN UP!

Louis can you explain what it is mate?
PRINCE2 is a process-based approach for project management, providing an easily tailored and scaleable project management methodology for the management of all types of projects.

Well done matey, I hear this is good to have if you want to be a PM.

Quite a few people I work with have done this and they tried to get me to do it but I'm not interested in being PM, and it was too much effort for a qualification that I'd likely never use.

So Brown has a Prince qualification? :scare::scare::scare: Surely that would put people of doing the course no?

Well done mate, it's not exactly what you would call a 'fun' course is it

I am a Project Manager and as you already know, if you don't have PRINCE2 you are pretty small beer and will miss out on all but the most junior posts for interview.

Next step MSP. I`ve just done that one and it is an utter b*st*rd of an exam!

Totally agree with you there. Howeve i want PMI to be honest as i like the idea of something that is more linear rather than horizontal, if you know what i mean. Also i need something that is recognised in the states as that is where i would like to end up, so having Prince and PMI will help getting something out there.
