Had the 350z garaged over winter, need to get it back out now the suns come out. Come to service it this weekend with new plugs, engine/gearbox/diff oil, clutch fluid etc

Started up OK with a charge to the battery but now the idle drops every 30 seconds or so almost to a stall...

I've tried searching to find a reason and think it may be due to cleaning the throttle body whilst I had the air filter all off.

Im pretty sure i moved the butterfly valve manually but since seen this is a no no.

Can manually moving the butterfly valve cause this issue and how so?

Try unplugging the battery and leaving it at least 20 minutes to completely dissipate the charge. Hopefully upon reconnecting and starting the ECU will relearn throttle position

I've cleaned out my throttle body and manually moved the butterfly, no big deal just had to reset the TB learning as per the guide on the forum.

So it's not likely to be something mechanical busted by moving the butterfly. Just throws the sensor out?

What relearn is best to try first?

On the later cars the HR the TB are wired live all the time. Moving the TB seems to corrupt the IDLE/NATS Eprom and causes Idle issues. I would not open any TB without disconnecting the TB/ battery and ECU.

Thanks

Still cannot resolve...I've got the tb reset dialed but each time I start the engine following the peddle dance it continues to idle at 750rpm then drop to 500rpm for only about 5 seconds then back up. Ocassionly it will stall after a few revs.

Might be a stealership job as I'm running out of options! Any recommendations?

There are four resets, the ecu, throttle body positions, and I really cant remember the name of the third, think its the idle air volume reset. I had a similar fault, did these three it that order and it was cured â˜ºï¸ this is the link with the guide I followed

Do you have a DE or an HR? I think you said it was a 2006, so you should be safe as it'll be a DE. If it's an HR see post 7 above by Mark.

Either way, if you're certain you've done the suggested procedures correctly and you've not introduced any leaks putting things back together, consider contacting a specialist like Abbey, Horsham or Cougar Store (nearest to you I think).
