Car being odd when dropping a gear hellllp!

Hi all, new here to please be kind!. I've been searching all over the web for this but oddly can't find anything! I noticed today that when I drop a gear and give it some the revs were dropping ever so slightly and there was a slight hesitation for around a second before taking off. I don't know if I've described this very well but I'm worried it might be a clutch issue? The internet seems to think if it was slipping the revs would rise - not this momentary very slight drop that I'm experiencing so I'm stumped. Oh and is there any Nissan specialists here in the North East? Apart from dealers Google doesn't throw much up for that either!

Can't help with your problem, but as for a good Nissan specialist, there's Atkin in Malton. Bit of a trek, but worth it.

as I`m sure you can understand diagnosis over the internet is next to impossible on faults like this.

Your right in assuming revs rise with clutch slip so we`ll forget that for time being.

Does the car stutter at all?

are you using high octane fuel?

Does it do this only on gearchange or every time you "mash" the throttle?

ESP stopping the wheels spinning ? My 350 used to hesitate a little when I put my foot down.

Thanks for the replies! Perhaps it's that and I'm being paranoid, I'm going to take it out again after work tonight and investigate further. Only happens when dropping a gear and putting your foot down, feels like a stutter for a split second then it regains it's composure and goes. I didn't notice an ESP light flashing or anything though? I'm using Momentum 99 from Tesco at the minute

I reckon its the TCS preventing tyre slip when your applying power - I get this every so often & it can be pretty frustrating.

 

A surefire way of finding out is find a dry, empty road and try it again with the TCS on and again with it off - be warned though, I had the arse of the Z snap out on me on a dryish section of road before with the TCS off and all I was doing was getting up to speed on a dual carriageway.. Keep that button on otherwise is my advice.

mine always does it if I'm nipping out of a junction when he tcs kicks in, doesn't help with the crap Eagle f1s on the rear

Revolution in Gateshead looked after my Z for many years and also a few other local ones. They are not too pricey, understand performance cars and more importantly they are trustworthy. They won't rag your car around on a 'test drive'

My money's on TCS as well, it's very invasive in this car. After only a month I started turning it off right after starting the car. I don't recommend this for everyone though, I've been driving fast cars for over 20 years. Having said that, when you turn the TCS off, you still have AYC active (anti yaw control??), it still won't let you swap ends unless you're doing something idiotic.

Thanks, I've had the car since December and never noticed it happen until yesterday. But then i don't often drop a gear and start driving hard. I'll try it with the esp off tonight, if i don't update you I've probably killed myself

Just be very very careful mate - empty road, plenty of light - no witnesses lol
