""And we all know Nissan's service record to date is shite! Why would a GT-R be any different? It will still be the same idiots providing the service but just reading out of a different manual and using different equipment.""

I'm afraid I have to disagree on that statement. Nissan has planned High performance Centers-HPC's world wide to cater for the GT-R. Low numbers of specialist HPC's to take care of the electronics, 3-type paint job and the high tech running gear on the GT-R and specialist sales training as well. I will agree to your inference that nissan have been shite so far in customer service and the possibility of them screwing up again is very high....but I would like to think that they have so much reputation at stake to screw up the plans for the GT-R. especially with low volume initial sales. Guess you will have to get a uk GT-R and get it looked after at nissan HPC to confirm your experience with them, as none of us can possibly confirm if nissan is still going to **** it all up at this crucial stage of business with the GT-R!

All you can go by is past performance. If this was a Porsche you would buy one safe in the knoweldge that when you take it to them that they are experencied in dealing with the car or similar. The GT-R is a ground braking car and they will need to have ground braking aftersales systems, training and support to attract back people they have scared away. The car is an unknown quatity and will have teething problems like all marques. The proof will be in the pudding when the car is taken back to them after purchase. :)

I think there are also a lot of importers awaiting this pricing confirmation in Geneva too.

There seems to be a distinct lack of information on how to get ones hands on a GTR via the import route at present. There still appears to be some questions that need answering on the finer details of how to get a GTR on the UK roads now rather than waiting god knows how long (and exactly what is the reason behind this wait again??)

Once the pricing and details of what is and isnt included in the UK cars regarding servicing, limiting, warranty (transferable?) etc... then conclusions can be drawn as to whether import or UK purchase is the way forward. Some may decide that the extra cost (if there is any?) is worth it for what is ofered with the UK cars (if anything?) and others may decide that the import delivery time and lack of extras (such as warranty) is their bag.

It will certainly provoke some interesting discussions whatever is announced Im sure...

I do not want to start a flame war and as this is a free club and people can say what they want within reason, so your entitled to your opinion and this place is better for it. But do you need to strip every comment I make "quote them" and attack each one as I could do the same with yours but do not feel the need so will not bother, it will not added any value. I may be not be understanding what you are saying but I think you are not understanding where I am coming from.

Just want to say, I believe the import route will likely lead to saving of £20,000+

NMGB will try to scaremonger everyone with trying to stop imports, (this is clearly happening as Ben has the first one and there is a black one about too)

You can get it services as Ben has done so therefore not an issue.

Buying UK model may have many hidden costs, ie, the "Post" Track day inspection.

(which if it finds damage does not mean it will cover for the replacement parts its just a TAX imposed by NMGB) to ensure that they do not incur cost they do not want and they will charge you £1000 for the privilege. If the servicing is not included in the UK cost then that is an outrage….my estimates of 20k up front saving and 6k track tax will also go up again by another £1k a year for servicing. Man this is all adding up. Hate to think if they are also going to restrict things like tyre replacements to “only at HPCâ€

Just for referance at the moment the import cost is around £55K so I am guessing even after a while they will be coming across at around £50K min.

Personally i don't think imports will bring down the price of the UK cars that much. IMO the price of UK spec 350zs have held really well over the last 1/2 years yet there are loads of cheap imports around.
