Thinking of a demuffler instead of a catback on a HR (Thoughts?)

A backboxes job is not only to make the noise quieter, but also to change the tone to something more pleasing, if you remove the backbox, you will get all the noise, but you'll also get all of the tones, which may or may not sound like a mess to you.

Where are you from? i thought only the North Americans say "muffler"

I guess you mean "decat" :)

No, sounds like short tails to me.

They sound great but a few people I know who fitted them have since removed them as they are too loud.

I know a muffler isn't a decat ffs :p

I demufflered my old B6 S4 and it sounded great but system on it had no resonator only Y pipe so it sounded like a herd of wild bastards on the beans.

All I'm asking is has anyone removed the rear muffler(backbox) etc and kept resonator and cats obviously
