Bless you matey, thank you. She is really nice, grey hides the dirt rather well also. 53 minutes ago, MONKEYSOCKS said: Just finished reading your story on the zed from start to finish. davey_83
Few bits to catch up on, 18' RAYS wheel refurb, Spring clean including arches, suspension raised 15mm all round and annual service. Previously painted before my ownership most likely to help with the sale, showing lacquer peel, corrosion coming through and a couple of paint runs. Nothing terrible but every time you'd wash the car however 240, 320 600 prep work - 2hrs each wheel Masked off and tac ragged over X3 coats of primer later 1st dust coat of silver My makeshift spray booth x3 coats of primer, base & 2k lacquer later with 24hrs between each stage Searched a decent amount of time for the right silver as most silvers are metallic, which I didn't want and think looks crap on wheels if you want an OE look. Products used x2 cans each, wheel barrels not done. 3 years in and the coilover still look fantastic under the socks, slacken the lower lock ring with the c spanner and it'll spin up the body by hand. Arches cleaned and dressed, 20mm wheel spacers refitted The raised ride height, damping and 45 profile tyres were a dream on the run out to Anglesey a couple week ago. davey_83
Anglesey with the club was a blast, personally my favourite drive out and conditions were great considering it was the end of March. Used the wipers for about 4 minutes on the way back across the boarder so can't grumble at that. Fuelled up ready for the day Home for a wash, decon and wax ready for Japfest Silverstone the following weekend Annual oil and filter change. Ally underlay with service hatch, but still take it off to have a nose round and wipe down underneath Edited April 10 by davey_83

davey_83
Having not long refurb'd my 18' RAYS and with them fitted for the Anglesey trip, they naturally got proper grimy. Following the successful install to my Varrstoëns, I had the bright idea to again PPF the lips. Never seen anyone do it before. Measured, cut and installed - barely even tell it was there unless really looking for it. By far the best protection for the part of the wheels that gets most brake dust abuse. PPF used Suntek Ultra Edited April 18 by davey_83

HEADPHONES
NEW TOYS! Did the battery have enough puff to do the whole car in one go?

The 5Ah was enough to do the whole car less the passenger door and front wing. I used the 2Ah to finish off the passenger door and front wing.
Lewis Schwier
Nice work on the wheels! I agree with the metallic silver, can look a bit tacky if everything is OEM(+)
davey_83
Tiny little addition. In all my years of Z ownership, never seen these before. Genuine Nissan part, should have been standard for to all DE's

Happen to come across it on eBay. No idea I have a DE, not RevUp. Never seen one before and would appear some 350z have it fitted and some don't. davey_83
Been a couple years since the last brake fluid change, so thought I'd incorporate braided lines to replace the near 20yr old rubber hoses. New track pads all round were also fitted. Had the Goodridge brake lines for years and years, never fitted as thought the job would be a complete ball ache hence getting it into the garage. All the OE brake flexi hoses came off without bother, nothing seized - unjustified anxiety. Underseal sanded off to reveal barely any corrosion. Pedal feel is noticeably more positive now, on to the pads. Old pads weren't worn out by any means however the entry level Mintex just aren't any good at high temps. The new items at least visually look alot more purposeful. Clutch fluid change also carried out while she was in the air, as surplus fluid.
davey_83
Brakes uprated so Thursday evening it was back to Donington Park, couldn't have asked for better weather - it was HOT out there!! Went up with a good pal in his BMW Z4M Roadster, it received alot of love maybe a bit too as he got black flagged for 101db with the exhaust bungs in!! Shared a garage which was handy for passenger rides in each and vehicle checks - 26psi all round, tow hook fitted, lid on and time for the sighting laps. Cool down between stints Some of the vendors photos New braided lines, high temp fluid and PBS track pads held up to the abuse, very impressed and found myself braking too early for the corners given the stopping power and surface grip due to the high ambient temperature. We had the same lines Lap after lap and the 991 Turbo S couldn't keep up with the little Z4M, which he was rather pleased about.
