LloydZee Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Nationalnumbers.co.uk Has anyone used these before? They have found me a plate and want to take it to auction in October but want £300 up front. Thanks Quote
JurassicZ Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Not wanting to teach granny to suck eggs, but have you checked it isn't on the DVLA website before you deal with them? Quote
LloydZee Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 Yeah I've checked. It's a plate that's never been released, hence why they can take it to auction. I've been looking me for a plate since Jan. Quote
Paddy78 Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I don't understand what the £300 is for? If the plate is going to auction, then isn't it a DVLA auction, which you can register on and bid yourself. I got mine from a DVLA one. Quote
JurassicZ Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I could be very wrong but can't you apply to DVLA to have a registration released to auction? That may be what National Numbers are charging you for. 1 Quote
LloydZee Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 I think they were saying the £300 is to release the plate? Quote
Ekona Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Why? There is no cost to do that, AFAIK. I suspect they're taking you for a ride. Contact the DVLA directly and see what's happening regarding that plate and auctions. 1 Quote
LloydZee Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 Ok will contact the DVLA see what they say Quote
LRF4N Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I contacted dvla for the availability of my plate. They said it wasn't available but given my interest they will release it- by auction. There was no charge for it and they contacted me to tell me it was coming up It wasn't the live auction it was the timed auction. At that point it was the sealed bid auction so I had no idea what others were bidding, or even if anyone was bidding. I could've paid a lot less with the new ebay style auction But yea, do it yourself directly with dvla I'm guessing the 300 is like a deposit for them to make sure you will buy after they bid on it? 1 Quote
veilside z Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Yes you can and DVLA will tell you the forthcoming auction it will be at so you can bid yourself. That's how I got mine 1 Quote
LloydZee Posted July 5, 2016 Author Posted July 5, 2016 Is there a certain department I contact to release a plate for auction? As I can't seem to find them online. Quote
Ekona Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 http://dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk/help/miscellaneous-questions.html Last question. Quote
Paddy78 Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 If only there was some kind of thing that helped you look for things online? I wish someone would invent something? In the meantime, a Dan will do! 1 Quote
