For panel filter, I'd go K&N or Cosworth.

For open cone filter, I'd go JWT. No real sense in spending any more, as you're only losing power and sucking in hot air.

stick with oem box/filter otherwise your;

- pulling warm air from the engine bay

- pulling parts of the filter into the block as it disintegrates with age (my experience)

air filters are disposable/cheap...

Would you not even use a performance panel filter then?

Surely you would benefit from an uprated panel filter, especially if you are having it mapped?

(I personally have no experience with uprated panel filters btw, but have been thinking of upgrading)

no because they are reusable and prone to damage in my experience

you end up sucking particles from the filter into the engine block

Don't talk such twaddle. A decent panel filter is easy on a par with the OEM one in terms of filtration.

Or way better, cost it's always the problem in mass production. You just need to hold the OEM in one hand and an uprated filter in the other hand. Build quality is night and day.

yep, agree (never mentioned filtration) - only difference is that

YOU DON'T REUSE THEM

Depends on what you want to achieve though, doesn't it?

I know I lost power with the JWT, but the extra noise was far more important to me than 1-2bhp I'd never feel.

Interesting discussion. My car came with a cone filter on it. Should I revert back to a panel filter before getting the car remapped (next thing on my list)?
