Finally got the Zed back tonight - all seems fine except 1 thing I wil mention in a mo anyway - no dints scratches oil drips so they must have listened to me for once!! Anyway the clutch actually does feel a lot better - its firm and well lovely and clutchy like a clutch should be - no more Kangarooing at lights I've noticed and also the thrust release bearing used to growl a lot in neutral has stopped - and is actually quiet! (Bet they stuck some grease on it!!) So then result - Zed is far nicer than before . One thing though Please help! - which ever monkey did the work had to remove the Bose unit as they have not refitted it correctly and its slightly recessed at the top into the dash - I figured out that the cubby above it - you remove the rubber mat and 2x plastic blanking plugs and I can see 2x retaining screws for the Unit inside - however - is this something I can reset correctly myself - easy to do or have they lost some spacers and the muppet could'nt be ar**d to get it to fit correctly? I am phoning tomorrow to get it sorted Saturday morning however if its a 5 minute job and no need to unplug the electricity I would rather do it myself? thanks in advance

Mine never flooded in fact I had no problems with it ever - in fact its the only car I ever owned that had no issues?? was a 2004 model 231bhp
-
Ok ok sorry its been a stressful day!!! You had me rechecking your original thread now!! Thought I was going mad!! Glad to hear they are bedding in and you are erm trying to get close to light speed in a Zed - as normal for you!
-
for £10K he should be able to get a 2-3 year old no problem - but since they are the same high tax band as Zeds a lot of people have run for the hills which is why there are so many on the forecourts - there are still scare stories about the engine but as long as its a warranty, full service and the alloys dont have tyres worn on the outer rims by muppets driving them to death you should be fine. One other thing - there is a lot of heat transfer to the central tunnel the interior can get quite warm - they put extra shielding on the underside but it does'nt make much difference . Only bits I found a bit of a pain: You cant just move it and switch the engine off or it will flood - you need to let it warm up a few mins before switch off - bit of a pain if your in a hurry. Taking the engine cover off to get to the oil no fun if its p**sing it down The washer bottle is not the biggest for a Jap car -unusual - as it auto washes the lights when full beam on - so depletes the reservoir quickly! If some d**k parks right next to your door - its a bind getting in as the front doors are quite long. Go for Black with the Red leather You can fit a lot of big stuff with those suicide doors open (as no pillars to get in the way) Mazda want you to use that so called special oil for it but when its serviced at the dealers they only put there standard stuff in they use for all the other cars anyway !!!! The RX8 club will tell you what best to look out for. Good luck with the search

Thought you had Falcons on your shiny new Nismo's or are they those cheap Spanish ones by FATE - what a top name for a tyre!!
-
Stew forget Piostonheads - go the the Mazda dealers - they have loads of them on the forecourts - guy here got a 3 month ex demo top spec (like my old one - sniff sniff!!) for £17K !! The average price seems to be £12-15K for a 2 year old one - but depends how much he wants to spend I still miss mine to be fair - its very practical the boot is huge - plenty of room inside and the back even if your super tall!! Most of them have leasther as no one wants the fabric seats - Bose stero in them is the best I ever had - better than the Zed! general quality is superb paint finish is better also mine never chipped and the alloy whees are p**s easy to clean! Go for it - try to get them to throw in a spare wheel also in the price they are about £180 for a fitting kit - or used to be! One last thing and I speak for all ex RX8 owners - do not listen to muppets banging on about how much oil you need to top up - its b****ks!! I hardly needed to top it up much and I do 700 miles per week! Just make sure you check every other week the level to be safe. Hope this helps - Stew pm me if you need any other info

When the XK8 came on sale - you could buy E types for reasonable money but they have crept up in price again - I saw a mint E type coupe last weekend and the time before in Edinburgh - looked the dogs - only thing though is the windscreen is very upright and the roof looks out of proportion because of it from the side - still look good though

Stuff the film did you both enjoy yourselves?
-
Ooooooh fantastic - love them I used to be in the Jag owners club and even in the sales mag they were stupid money!! www.jec.org.uk Always wanted a Mark 1 MKII jag (if that makes sense) love that dark Edwardian interior!! Oh well only the rich kids have them these dayes as investments dont they! Shame...

Thats just Nissan keeping the traditions going of British Leyland!! Japs always copying us!
-
This thread is sounding a bit rude now - dental floss and hairdriers
-
Hey Jay I was'nt being cheeky at all mate - I was trying to be clever and refering to the previous comments about girlfriends - sorry did'nt work never mind Hey dont want you grabbing me by the gorbals! Adam you need to enlighten us about the Gorbals then?
-
I am not sure if there is a difference ?? Nissan blacks seem to appear more very dark brown or grey in my opinion- the new colour is Kuro Black. Coincidentally the Micra I have borrowed at the mo is Kuro Black. Maybe one is metallic and the other flat?
-
Jon - not done it myself but a couple of the guys have changed their badges for Z badges and they all say the same thing - hairdrier and patience! Until the glue softens - then you can pull the badge away - gently! But I think it takes ages?
-
Oops sorry...... Erm good review there Mr Jay - very informative yet informal!! I may takea peep at said piece of filmography at the earliest opportunity! Anyway how come he has a Tron motorbike??? (Tron - showing my age!!!)
-
Think Colin has run in his Falcons now!! Ready for some light driving now Col!! Seriously though please let me know how your getting on with the Falcons as you know I need to get soem in the next few weeks and also are they louder /firmer as profile is smaller - since your on 19" Nismo's now?
-
to the club - quite a few South Wales members in the club Wonder where Nixu has gone - maybe he hacked into his ECU and it went pop!!
-
Meeeeeeee a durty mind - that filty talk there young loon! Funny had just about everything from the Datsun range as a courtesy car except a Zed!! Fuel ecconomy on the Micr is appalling on the motorway - its a petrol I have, 5 speed box and doing about 4K revs at 75mph!! The Zed is resting at 75mph! costing me a fortune in petrol tempted to tske the van tomorrow?
-
Thanks Colin I figured what it was in the end - I had one of my almond Tarts wedged under the pedal! The pastry kept it from going all the way down to the floor!! Well its either that or the thick Shagpile carpet ! (I said shagpile not Shagtag Jay btw!!) Your going to have to teach me how to drive slowly, safely and sensibly like you do Uncle Colin!!! Got some Farcela G3 compound for the van last night - works a treat - bit too harsh for the Zed though will have to try molten butter on that paint finish !! Pile of poo that it is!!!
-
Oi! Jay!!! Noooooooooooooo!!!! One more thing if anyone elses is planning to have this recall done - bring both sets of keys - they need to reprogam them - they did'nt tell me will late afternoon so had to drive back with the other spare set of keys - this is turning into a major farce now is'nt it!! I am dreading seeing the car when I get it back (did I say WHEN then!!!)
-
My original recall thread is here - with details of work to be done: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14578 Just had a call - they did'nt get a part delivered this morning (again!!!) so its going to be another day in the Micra - I dont mind its built for a purpose - town driving!

Jockland Hoon! Scottish drive out 7th September
stanski replied to Stew's topic in Meets, Shows and Events
Saturday I may take a trip to Skye and say hi to some friends - (yes I do have at least 2 somewhere - although they live up there to keep a safe distance!!) See what the weather is like and if any glasses of Rioja will be consumed on Friday night! Cant wait - roll on September! -
Thanks folks Erm yes interesting Ren and Stimpy pic there!!! I guess thats from the last new series they made about 5 years ago - never seen it - but heard it was a bit erm close to the bone so to speak as per your pic!!! The only Micra I have had with no Nissan ad on the side !! Worse was a Nissan cash-cow with pictures of rats all over it - hmm why so honest about your own product I thought!!! Its like driving a greenhouse on wheels - the roof is 20foot tall a Victorian Gentleman with Top hat would have room to spare!! Adam if I went over a cattle grid in this thing it would fall between the grates!! Anyway back to work ... boo...
-
Does'nt Batman drive a Micra? Worse thing its park in full public view on my drive - think will park the van in front to hide it a bit! Naa bit unfair at least its not some camp colour like lilac ! Lets see how things are tomorrow and more to the point lets hope I get it back tomorrow - first decent week weather wise and I am in a tintop!
