  1. Ha ha, you might not say that if you could see it... ots not one of the nice 'fd's which people recognise... its the previous gen
  2. Hey all, A lot of you will have seen my thread on getting a sub £1k drift car recently... well i found one on wednesday and i just picked it up today from Birmingham. Me and 2 mates have bought it together - it was a bargain at only £600! We got it back to mine and the 3 of us set to work on it... many hands make light work, i can tell you! Washed, waxed, buffed with a buffer - what a difference that made! Also masked off the rear window and resprayed the surround as it was fading. The bodywork is in very good nick... paint is excellent with only a few little rust spots... but there are plenty of door dings. As for the engine... im not sure how good it is! The car feels quick enough and revs very well - but it is rough as anything, and the exhaust is ridiculously loud - but not in a nice way! So far its set 3 car alarms off! Hopefully before the drift day in 2 weeks im gonna get the wheels stripped and resprayed, as the white wheels date the car quite badly... but the best thing about the car is undoubtedly the pop up headlights... they're awesome! The previous owner seemed to know what he was doing too... engine bay looked well maintained, all the fluids were good, it had a brand new clutch which he'd fitted and the dif has also been welded - which basically means you cant steer at low speeds - as both reat wheels spin at the same speed! Its a weird sensation We've had a propper lads day today - something we've not done in years... all our girlfriends are pi**ed at us too! Oh, and we got the Transformers Angus 6 pack from Burger King on the way home! Brilliant. Here are some pics! Fitted some blue LEDs i had lying about. The real highlight of the day!
  3. Can you fit me in Jay...? Ha ha... no - i washed mine yesterday... it took me 45mins to scrub that front bumper thought!
  4. £120 plus a full tank of fuel - you'll need it. If you need to, sell your gran... you wont regret it!
  5. My surname is Marshall and when we were about 12 we used to watch 'Eerie Indiana', and the main character was called Marshall - but his friends called him Mars. So my mates pinched it from that, and thats all my friends have called me since.
  6. Sorted... im definitely in for 25th July now - but i'll be in my rx7 - not the zed. Steve - i'll pay tomorrow. 1. Marzman +2
  7. I cant believe nobody's mentioned the spider on your right wing mirror I'd be very interested in getting my mirrors done.
  8. Welcome pal... you done any drifting? Im just getting into it and everyone got a 200sx!
  9. mate. Nice to see someone's done their reading before posting up and asking questions... The Leon Cupra R was quicker than the zed huh? The zed is deceptively quick with such low down, even torque, so it may be closer than you say... Hope you find a zed soon... and there's nothing wrong with a well looked after JDM.
  10. Obviously haven't read the talk on this thread then and are jumping on the press' bandwagon. So you have a season tkt Then? Dont need one anyway mate... former employee

  12. Alex - can this be done with a regular blow torch - as i nearly went out and bought one last week for this purpose. Something like on of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLOW-TORCH-AUTO-PROF-PUSH-BUTTON-2-LIGHT-WITH-GAS-1600c_W0QQitemZ220414465484QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item3351b9d5cc&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1683|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
  13. I dont understand where his bad rep has come from?? At liverpool he was world class - then he went to madrid where he didnt do much - but neither did Beckham - and then he was forced to go to Newcastle who bid 5 million more than anyone else. At Newcastle he got injured (where a lot of players seem to do - people used to blame it on the training ground, remember?) and anyway, in a seriously crap team you cant fault him for losing a bit of appetite and not having amazing performances can you? If he signs and doesn't do well then i'll be suprised - but i cant understand what he personally has done to get such a bad rep.
  14. +1... or a guide to regreasing! I attempted to take mine off the other day with the car just jacked up - but they wouldn't budge.
  15. Are you kidding? This is a good deal for us. 20k a week is nout, and he'll only be getting upto 110k in bonuses if he does well - and if thats the case then fair play to him - and great for us! Owen is a box player which is precisely what we havent got - and he's the type of player that you always trust on the ball - unlike a youngster like Macheda or someone. Granted, he's not the answer to all our problems, but he's an ideal player to have on the bench.
  16. Cheers Dan, I gave them a call but they were no good - would only quote me for insuring the car as a normal car + track time... so it was coming out at £500!! So, tempcover.com - 1 day insurance for £22. Cant argue with that!
  17. Hey all, Okay, i bought an '88 RX7 for drifting on track yesterday, but dont know what the cheapest option for insurance will be... it is taxed and tested, and we'll be driving it on the road to and from events - so need insurance. Are there special insurance policies for 1 or 2 days a month? Or can you organise weekend insurance etc, or will it be cheaper to insure it for the year rather than keep messing about?? Any help appreciated!
  18. Thats actually half decent! If you could figure out how to maintain the bonnet shut line though i'd like it more, as the shape doesnt flow.
  19. +1. If you can afford to take the risk then go for it. But take martins advice and read up about it on my350z.com
  20. Hey guys, After a good solid 12 hours looking - i've found the car and paid the deposit - we're picking it up on Sunday Registered on http://www.driftworks.com - seems like a cool forum...! Anyway, spotted the car in their classifieds and have snapped it up. Looks like i got a good deal too - it was up a for £850 2 weeks ago and the guys steadily knocked it down by 50quid every few days!! I'm paying just £600! Its a 1988 Mazda RX7. 2.3 litre, 85k miles, and its already semi-drift ready as its been stripped, had the diff welded (first mod to non-LSD drift cars), and has a spare set of ghey pink wheels for drifting! Acording to the guy, it drives perfectly and there are no current issues with it, apart from on short journeys (less than 10miles) the engine can flood - so a fuel cut-off switch has been added. See his advert below:
  21. This is ace. I love it when you pair are flirting
  22. Its only 6 episodes which is a shame.... They make skins last for 20 episodes or whatever at an hour long each, but then just give us 24 mins of the inbetweeners.
  23. +1 i thought it was done with electricity.
