i did upgrade to IE8 to find it a bloated mess, have now switched to firefox, this site and many other loads faster with firefox (yes yes i should have switched years ago ) not tried this myself but there's addon for firefox that puts IE as a tab within firefox - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419 might help you out
