the thrust bearing is usually replaced at the same time as the clutch as its only a cheap part, gearbox has to come off to do either, so its best to do it all as the £££ go into the labour more than the parts
its sits on the arm that actuates the clutch

my experience of down saff is that its more like warsaw, i havent met many southerners should be renamed to polondon
i will say though... i've met a lot of polish and nearly all have a mad passion for the Z
the two cars are similar in one way - they can let go without too much warning and throw you into a hedge
