Look for another one of these, or just a normal carputer. Have seen a few people selling these on ebay, but mostly using 1Ghz processors. Was thinking that I would probably load it with a cut down version of XP, I have a version with a Vista theme which is quite cool and boots a lot quicker and runs quite smoothly as lots of the other crap isn't running in the background. Can you get a double din to twin single din adapter for the 350z?

Have just seen these too http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lilliput-In-Dash-DVD-Car-PC-computer-with-CD-Burner_W0QQitemZ110112053868 quite like the idea of having it mounted up front in a DIN sized unit, could have this and my new alpine unit running next to each other and a screen in the sat nav cubby...makes running cables easier too if it is upfront. I am also going to Hong Kong in a few months....

Cheers Was just looking through that forum to try to find a solution, also saw this http://cgi.ebay.com/Built-in-PC-VGA-DVD ... 0092766699

Cheers guys, think this is one for the future for me, but something I will keep a keen eye on. Unless anyone wants to build me one? One (kind of related) question - I added an amp and sub in behind the driver's seat but have yet to wire it up to the front of the car yet as I am still waiting for my new head unit! However I was just wondering where people take a high current power supply from? Do you run cables directly to the battery (my amp recommends this), if so, where do you pass through the firewall and hide your cables?

For Mac: os x 10.4 Amps frontend (free download) heres link: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/amp/924 ... lease.html Config X to get the resolution of the lilliput to run at 800 x 640 or 800 x 480 cant remember its about £12 Got Itunes, DVD, iphoto, safari, windows vista +more as standard with mini mac ntel core duo What do you need Vista for? What Sat Nav software are you running, is this native to OS X, or do you need Windows of some sort on there somewhere?

Lots of talk about hardware for these 'puters, what about the software....Can someone give me a list of all the software they are running on their carputers, so I can spec out what type of machine I think would be best, cheers

What exactly is the difference between the 03 and 04 cubby's? I just bought one, no idea if is it 03 or 04, but it does have the sliding back door, which it what I wanted. At the mo I am just hardwiring my TomTom in there, but I am seriously considering the carputer route. With the carputer would you recommend mac or pc? Have seen some people say they are using macs and there would appear to be a good free interface for the mac...but then i hear people running windows on the mac too, why? Is this for the navigation software or something? What software would you recommend on a carputer, whether it is mac or pc? Answers on a postcard...

Hi mate that is for everything including mini mac intel duo 100gb 1gbram 1.6 hrz hardware, comes complete with (multiregion dvd, itunes, imovie, airport, bluetooth, windows vista, satnave the whole works) 7" touchscreen lcd, adapters carnetix, software (most free frontend) Alpine headunit single cd player aux in (to handle the sound and to have radio) a second 350z middle dash incase I mess things up hacking away and installing screen into cubby, everything. Here some pics took to show it working outside, proper pictures will be taken on the day with it fully setup outside working fully and the inside the car: The lowest spec mac mini (lower than that one) is £400 by itself, £72 for the screen, Vista license is another £70....etc. etc. Struggling to see how you got £410!

I agree mate why bother with either???? That was partly the point I was trying to make, standard Brembos are fine for normal use. I am not sure how much a normal brembo replacement would cost over a drilled one, but if it is not much then the extra stopping power always comes in handy. I replaced the standard kit on my modded (290bhp) TT and put some EBC Green Stuff pads and Tarox grooved discs and it made a world of difference over stock. But then the stock kit on a TT is poop.

Isn't it £1K for just the fronts though, so you are really comparing £200 for new discs against £1K for the D2 kit? I have seen this on eBay myself and been tempted, like yourself if my discs and pads all needed doing then I might think about it. £2-3K for new front discs is a lot of money and I am not sure if you'd really benefit unless you plan to do track days etc.

What is the difference between the 03 and 04 Nav cluster?
-
Have considered doing this myself...will wait till I get the rest of my car sorted first, but would be interested to know what parts you costed up for £500!
-
I ordered some of these from a US supplier, will be picking them up this weekend from Boston. Am now considering the MSA type 7 kit - if I get it then they'll be up for sale!
-
I am very tempted to go with this! The back is just what I have been looking for, prefer the whole bumper thing as opposed to the nismo type sticky on bits. Jusy waiting for a quote on the spraying and fitting

I am moving to Shenfield, all of a couple of miles away! Will PM you later, but am in no hurry!
-
I am actuall tempted by this (without the wing!!). Where are you based? I have an 01277 phone number too! Would be nice to see some more pics - or a real life example! What is the discount of the list price for forum members?
-
Depends on how hard the new springs are and if you have bigger heavier wheels. I found that the RS-R's and 19's were too much for the stock dampers and it seemed to wallow when pushed. That's why I went for the Tokico D-Spec's. Got 19" Nismo LMGT4 alloys and am considering these Ti2000 spring also, where did you get your kit from?
-
How necessary is it to uprate the dampers if you are only lowering about 20mm? I want to keep it within tolerance, as I don't want to put adjustable bars on to get the alignment right!
-
Damn it, i'd have had it if I'd seen it first!
-
If it is $399 and $151 for postage then why is it $650 total??
-
Could be interested if you can get the shipping cost down a little
-
D'oh - was only in swindon recently! Still not sure whether to just lower with springs, or to go full damper set up...
-
I see Elrao is straight in there only after me though Someone had bid before me, I pushed it up to £100 and was winning for a while...not going to bid any higher I don't think. Will probably end up getting the urethane lip from the US. Going to Boston this weekend, and will pick up a load of goodies I had shipped to my friend's house. Nothing major, just a few odds and sods

I understand your predicament, I have an origin B2, TomTom, Nissan Blutooth Car kit and an FM transmitter on the ipod at the moment. If you want Sat Nav and to use the screen for something else then I think you are going to need atleast two devices, so if you are happy with the sat nav on your phone, then I think there are other DVD & double DIN screen solutions which will enable you to browse a DVD full of MP3s on screen for less than the £999 this will cost you. For true one device ease - I am also considering the Car PC!
-
If it is MP3 playback you want then for the same price or less you could buy a 'normal' head unit and an ipod - no need to change DVDs then! The only reason I would have gone for a double Din screen is for sat nav. However if you have DVD based sat nav as the LG has then (assuming it uses the DVD slot in the unit - as the pioneer ones do, as opposed to having a separate DVD player) then you can not listen to MP3s from a DVD while you are using the Sat Nav. Same with an ipod, you can't shuffle through the songs on the screen of something like the alpine IVA-W200Ri and have sat nav running on the screen. Best set up is to have a dedicated Sat Nav screen - IMO - which is why I am keeping my TomTom (i'd like to fit a screen in the nav cubby and have a hard drive based Nav (like the kenwood) but can't justify £800 for that when the TomTom (£250) does everything but with a smaller screen).
