  1. Ok, it is a bit apples vs oranges, but one can post the same question about the turbo engines produced by Audi/VW. My TT: bog standard: 180hp 235Nm. After chiptuning 210hp and 340Nm. Why dont they sell it with e.g. 200hp standard then?

Have you never heard Jeremy talk about Mercedes "quality"? You need to get on those re-runs, mate! all my life I have been fed the idea that Germany make the best built and reliable cars... what do I do now with my shattered beliefs, I feel cold and empty, bye bye cruel world. LOL Since when did Top Gear become a trustworthy source of car information? In that respect I think Fifth Gear is a lot more neutral (albeit a lot less entertaining ). TG is entertainment, nothing more nothing less. Like that time they reviewed some Toyota (I think it was one, not sure). "Great car, amazing, blablabla... Would I get one? NO! Why? Because it is not a BMW!". So far for objectiveness
  3. wherever you do it, get a before and after run. I have seen differences of 20hp and more on different dynos (was for a motorbike but the principle remains the same )
  4. Happy birthday. So did you order that Harley Davidson yet?

Shows again that image is more important than real-life statistics for some people. Do a bit of research on reliability statistics http://www.reliabilityindex.co.uk/tophu ... 9010848601

build quality? I honestly don't think a Porsche is better built than a Nissan. It might look better, but I am sure what comes from Japan still is more reliable than anything originating from Germany
  8. that was my point. Remember the black lambo that once was for sale? Also had this extreme body-mods, but was a pure racing car.
  9. It is fuel, not wine Of course it can deteriorate with time, but not in a timespan of 2-3 weeks.
  10. Was it at the same place? You cannot compare different rolling roads. Only correct comparison is on the same one at the same day. The only 2 things one can trust from a rolling road session are: 1 - Air-fuel mixture 2 - If mods have been done and a before/after run has been done the performance gain Comparing absolute results from one place to another is never accurate.
  11. My 06 Z had 275hp at the flywheel, completely standard with 15.000km on the clock, so the numbers sound logical. @Kev: its not exactly "just" a remap. Its a remap + all the mods he did. We all know just doing mods without remapping the ECU changes 0 on the performance of the car. One thing I learned is that if you want accurate manufacturer hp ratings, you are better of buying a turbo'd car (they all have correct, or even slightly more hp than on paper), or a Porsche Nearly all N/A cars have real hp figures which are lower than in the spec sheet.
  12. It is comfort of life And you can take your eyes with you to the next car you buy, will be harder with other mods
  13. Nothing to do with this case whatsoever, but what a bunch of crap is that article? I mean they nearly explain us what color underwear those guys wore on each day of the week, giving heaps of completely irrelevant information just to get more "emotion" in the story, while it basically boils down to "idiots forget to use brain and kill themselves" ....
  14. you can also have lenses implanted. The advantage of that procedure is that it is reversible. Check out the options I would say, but one can never invest enough in his/her own health imho
  15. unless you buy a GT2 or a Turbo. Those are different engines (and price brackets )
  16. this is obviously not a car to drive on the road
  17. That s what i was referring to previously ...
  18. That if the engine has a problem (which is quite known with 996 engines, check the Porsche forums), that you are in for a huge bill , and that Porsche parts and maintenance cost an arm and a leg
  19. Long time no see, your nick and the mentioning of that car
