    Can't say I've had the problem myself but the first thing I would check is the power steering fluid level.

    Pleased to hear that things are going smoothly - you always have a little nagging doubt when a job of that magnitude is carried out. It also appears that it doesn't have an appetite for oil. Mine used about 0.5 ltr in the first 1000 miles.

    No broken clips I took your advice and bought one of those tools for the vast sum of £4.70 - worth every penny.

    Just an update. I eventually got around to removing the counter weight in the tailgate today and the problem appears to be solved - thanks for the tip Val.
