    It could be that it's overheating and in leaving it a while it has sufficient time to cool down. Either way if it was me I'd get it checked out as sods law says it will happen one day in the most remote of places.

    I've had my 06 MY now for nearly 2 years and it has consistently used about 0.5 litre of oil per 1000 miles. It has done this from day one and has not got any worse or any better. The dealer tells me it is within acceptable tolerances that Nissan determine as being upto 1 litre per 1000 miles.

    37,000 miles is not an excessive amount for a clutch that has been used normally, but if it has had some hard use then it could be on it's last legs.
