  1. As Gus says, at the moment you can't be done by a gatso facing you. Some tosh about the flash being a dangerous distraction to the driver (so why do they go off in the first place eh!). The truvelos can take pics from the front of you because they have a filtered magenta flash - you'll only see it in the car if you're looking directly at the camera when it goes off. THe Truvelos also work through pickups in the road rather than by radar, so old style radar detectors won't warn you
  2. Hi charlied! WHat did you get on the dyno then? Exhaust sounded good standing still, but had a very high-pitched harsh note on track. (Hope I didn't upset you!). Have you tracked the car much? Wife & I have done one track day, but we're too scared to do it without insurance, which is fearsomely expensive!
  3. Wondering what's happening too... just spent most of my cash on an exhaust for the leggie...
  4. Serves you right for a) buying a bmw and a butt ugly one at that But seriously I'm constantly amazed at how stupidly defensive people an be about their cars on forums - you want to try the Mitsubishi Lancer Register for some serious abuse. It seems so important to some people to have the 'best' car! I think it may be something to do with the fact that we're divided by a 'wall' of electronics - you'd never hear some of the things said if you were face to face... I love both our cars (even though one 'looks like a hearse' (the cheeky wife said first time she saw it!) - they both leave me with a huge smile on my face after a decent drive, and I'd buy both all over again. They're not the best cars out there, but bang-for-buck, both are hard to beat. There will always be someone faster/more powerful/better looking sharing the road/hogging the fast lane (Iwontmentionanynamesjustfollowmyeyes!!!!!!). In fact, a chav in a polished Nova could probably beat me on the road - if he was willing to take more risks thant I would FFS, they're only cars eh - there's more to life!
  5. Don't even try to pretend you never got the NIP - at best, you'll end up in court eventually (which is what you're trying to avoid), at which point you'll either have to pay a lawyer to go for you (and so avoid been identified), or go yourself and be convicted. Make sure you send all your correspondence recorded delivery (you'll find they'll do the same once they realise that you're not simply going to pay up). You now have to string things out for as long as possible before sending the pace letter- idea is to make it too late & too much trouble for them to pursue you. So you wait until it's nearly the deadline for returning whatever stage of documentation you're at - you should have around 28 days after each demand/threatening letter. NEVER miss that deadline though, or you're done for. Use anything you can think of to keep the letters flowing and the deadline extending. Ask for the photo - you can't remember who was driving. You'll get a B&W copy. Then ask for a better photo - colour because the B&W isn't clear enough. You'll end up having to arrange a visit to their offices to view the glorious technicolour. Have a bunch of good excuses why you can't attend on the dates you're offered. Try to get a date as far ahead as possible. When you view, DO NOT SAY ANYTHING (admit anything, and you'll be shafted again)! Just look suitably chastened, and ask for a further extension so you can get all the documentation ready. At the very last possible moment, send the PACE letter attached to the NIP with 'see attached letter' scrawled on the NIP. They'll probably send you another NIP and start making various threats. DO NOT REPLY TO ANYTHING FROM THE TIME YOU SEND THE PACE LETTER. You've satisfied s197, and have not convicted yourself by sending in a signed NIP. As the law stands at present, they cannot convict you. They've got 6 months from the time of sending the NIP to have you up in front of the judge. Once the 6 months has gone by, you're safe. I managed to get around 4 months down the line before sending the PACE letter. Then it was christmas, and then... nothing
  6. Heh! That's a VR4 - looks like I've got a bit more modding to do on mine... NOT!
  7. mmm... /Select Popular 350z-uk excuse: - It's too far - It's too short notice - I'm doing my nails - I have a hole in my bum But on a serious note... I'll be up for as many events as possible in the near future, provided there's track time involved.
  8. But it's only the one's that I show up at that are the important ones FFS Must I explain everything? Things are going to change when I am king I tell you!
  9. mmmm... nice... I'd be tempted if I didn't already have 19"'s (oo-er missus )
  10. Well, had a great day - thanks suzi for the last minute arrangements! So nice to see so many 350Z club members there... NOT! What a bunch you are eh. A gazillion skylines, more 300ZX's than you can shake a stick at, virtually every VR4 in the country... and a grand total of 5 350Z's well done lads - keep the flag flying. Spoke to one nice bloke from the paying club who had a red import. Someone in a black NISMO kitted machine went out on track, and also had a run on the dyno. Wanted to have a chat to the owner, but never managed to collar him - he had an aftermarked exhaust on (not sure if it was also NISMO) - sounded absolutely horrible on track! Ugh. Wanted to make sure I don't buy whatever he has! Some pics - thank goodness the ClubVR4 boys were there in force - kept me well fed and entertained! The VR4 and 300/350Z stands were right opposite each other, which made things easier. Are youuuuuu lonesomeeeeeee tonightttttttt...... Where o where has my little Z gone.... where o where can it beeeeeee and finally.... when I am big, I want one of these.... Come on you big girl's blouses... get your arses in gear and get to one of these events - they're great fun!
  11. Agree with you there - never could see the point, particularly on a road car.
  12. I'm the opposite (although it's not mini-specific) - I prefer turbos. Had a straight six 4l supercharged jag which was fearsomely quick, but all you could ever hear was the SC whining. Much prefer the turbo spooling sound, and the fact that you can hear the engine as well. However, chap at work also seemed to prefer the idea of the mini SC... It's one of the things holding me back from getting an SC for the Z - hoping that someone will turn up in one at Japfest tomorrow so I can have look/listen..
  13. Here you go: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5383726.stm
  14. Yes, it does work, and yes, lots of threatening letters. Expect them to try every trick in the book. Ignore everything, and it all goes away in the end There's a test case on atm - about the legality of forcing people to sign the NIP (if you do, it is a signed confession, if you don't, plod will have you under s172 - failing to ID the driver when asked to do so). I think there's another around the PACE letter itself. Pepipoo will have the details - haven't looked for a while.

    Mamma Mia!

A BMW*nkr??? You must be mad man ! I'm arranging an urgent visit by the men with white coats - you've missed your medication again!
  16. The fightback forums on www.pepipoo.com are very very useful. Wife and I were scammerad by the same newly installed near to us 3 times (sneaky change from 40-30mph, barstewards). Used the PACE argument and all three timed out. DON'T sign the NIP. Do go to pepipoo and be educated!
  17. Just booked my pass - thanks Suzi, and sorry for the late request. Didn't expect to have the weekend free. I'll be visiting the ClubVR4 boys too, who will be there in force, so should be a good day. Hope to see some Z's - particularly with a bit of forced induction!
  18. Bloke at work has one of these- looks like a mini with chav mirros (they're red) and a big teatray on the back (carbon wing). Uprated supercharger, wheel and suspension mods, no back seats and a close ratio box. Like a lot of people, he speculates on limited ed cars, and makes a grand or two selling them on. Think he might have been burned on this one though - there are a lot of people trying to sell them on (there were six on fleabay the other night). Not my cup of tea, and the fact that there's a new mini on sale now (S has turbos instead of an SC, so BM have seen the light ) is probably affecting sales. Bet they handle like a cart though...
  19. http://www.evo.co.uk/evotv/planetevovid ... _350z.html Evo did a group test of the Novidem supercharged Z, new M3 coupe, and a porker cayman. Little Lotus Eutopa also popped in for a play. They like the Cayman most of all - nothing outstanding, just did everything well. Like the Z's balance, but said it felt quite aftermarket. Very noisy SC and constant hiss of excess pressure being bled off. Like the M3's interior, less impressed with the handling - surprisingly oversteery.

    Mamma Mia!

Servicing every 4500 miles indeedy! Shape has changed very little over the years, but the coming X does look a lot more sexy: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/motor ... evo_x.html Evo's have never really floated my boat - used to own a couple of imprezas - but I think I might book a little test drive when the X arrives.
  21. Would you pay that for a 2004 with 40K miles...? Not sure I would. How's the value of these things holding up?

    Mamma Mia!

I'm constantly amazed at how much power and torque Mitsubishi manage to wring out of those little 2l engines... EVO IX FQ-360 I've never really wanted to own one, but can't deny the ability and engineering. 3 year warranty too, so they must be confident it won't break !

    SAT NAV

I;ve got an iCN520 which I'm very happy with. Doesn't have full postcode search though (just uses the 1st 4), and it looked slow alongside my boss's tom-tom. But then he paid 700 quid and I paid less than half that!
  24. You can have mine for 1600 quid. Comes with a free satnav
