  1. I have sympathy for you buddy as I'm in exactly the same as you are! I'm even doing my CBT next week so that I can aim towards getting a bike which should keep a smile on my face once the zed has gone and been replaced with a cheap Qashqai from work!
  2. I think that the Micra harness is to be used with non BOSE models but I can't be sure. I would recommend you checking the connector at the back of the HU and it should become clear which harness you need as they are quite different enough to tell them apart. I have a non BOSE JDM and the Micra harness worked a treat with my JVC HU but I don't have steering wheel functions. Good luck!

    Black Rays....

A guy at work has just had his RAYS powdercoated black on a Sunset coupe. Think he may have joined up to the site, so I'll ask him to put up some pics!
  4. I heard from a guy at work who was involved with the press launch, that TG requested a zed from NMGB before the European model had been signed off. When NMGB told them that they would have to wait for a UK car, TG responded that they would source their own JDM in that case. Rather than risk TG evaluating a car that NMGB had not cast their eye over (for various build concerns etc.), they reluctantly accepted to lend them their own JDM production level zed. I must admit, when I saw the evaluation on tv, I wanted to kick JC's head in! Renault engine, my arse! I'm sure he says these things to get a rise! Needless to say TG's relationship with NMGB isn't very good so why should they say nice things about good cars when he can have a childish dig instead!
  5. I had the same problem, it took me two attempts too! I ended up getting myself a long breaker bar to get the caliper bolts off. I must admit, the design is pretty poor IMO from a servicability point of view. Having a brake tube go into the back of the caliper does make it awkward to remove the caliper from around the disc, but it does move sufficiently out the way if you unbolt the tube brackets. Just make sure you support the weight of the caliper once you have unbolted it. A bit of string tied to the top of the suspension member should do the trick! Good luck!
  6. I used to be nicknamed "The Tank" by my football team mates way back when I was at school and it's just stayed with me. After living in France for a while, I came back with an added bit of European flair to my game and my name changed to "Le Tank"! (Ok, so I lied about the flair! ) The 87 part was only added so I could get an ebay account and that represents the year that my football team won the greatest FA cup final ever!!!
  7. What about a VW Passat and maybe a Honda Jazz??? You get a bit of badge snobbery with the VeeDub and the Jazz has been top of the JD Power survey since it was launched! TBH, I think you'll be lucky to get a second car under a year old with a budget of £15k if you go for a Volvo as the primary car! As an alternative to the Jazz, I would definately recommend a NOTE as a second car as it seems to meet all the criteria, and on top of that they are bloody good to drive too! However, they do seem to be commanding quite good prices on the second hand market at the moment.
  8. If the lights are staying on, you can try disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU and topping up the brake fluid up to max level. This cured it for me! I think that this has happened to a few people on here and if I'm not mistaken it was usually before they needed new brakes. Might be worth checking what you have left on your discs and pads???
  9. As above but for the roadster! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Boot-mat-for-Nissan-350z-Convertible_W0QQitemZ130102952625QQihZ003QQcategoryZ36678QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  10. A must for every coupe owner to stick on top of that piece of rice paper you get as standard! This is an absolute bargain, I cannot believe there are not bids yet! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-Nissan-350Z-Coupe-Carpet-Boot-Mat-As-NEW_W0QQitemZ180108833418QQihZ008QQcategoryZ36678QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  11. Sorry it took so long, but I'd like to give a big thanks to Jacko for organising the NW meet. Me and the missus had an awesome day, although it could have ended very badly on the Chester services roundabout, just ask Sinbad and his mate! Can't wait for the next one, I just hope I can hang onto the zed long enough before I have to take on a mortgage!
  12. I've had Pilot Sports fitted for about 8k miles now and they are the best all round tyre available in my opinion. Great levels grip in all weather conditions, less road noise and long tread life too (mine still have 6mm left!!!). Mind you, they are probably the most expensive tyres you can buy, but I suppose you get what you pay for! If you get a set for under £600 you'll be doing well so you'd have to really want them to justify the cost, especially when you can get a set of Falkens for £380, which by all accounts are also excellent.
  13. Well I got back from my trip around France late on Tuesday evening and boy, what a trip it was! In the 6 days we were away, we covered nearly 2,100 miles in 43 hours (there's a photo of the trip computer at the end to mark the mass achievement!). Although it was very intense, particuarly as we didn't drive at all for nearly 2 days of the 6, I would do it again and again without hesitation. It was an absolutely amazing trip and I can't stress enough that you should all do it some day if you get the chance. We started off on Thursday where we left home in Northampton and drove down to meet our ferry in Dover. We arrived in Calais around late afternoon and then headed down to a hotel that we had booked just south of Orleans. On Friday the driving really started, the long old slog down towards the Millau viaduct was broken up when we stopped off in Volvic as per Tim's recommendation (and I managed to get that picture you wanted! ). Some really nice scenery then followed as we drove through the Auvergne volcanic region towads the viaduct, which was in itself "immense"! Once we had crossed it, we then headed towards the Cote D'Azur and eventually nestled in Cannes, where we spotted a few fruity motors, noticeably a Hummer H1 and a couple of rather bright Murcielagos On Saturday we drove along the coastal road firstly into Nice, where once again there were some fantastic views of the coast once the road started to wind up into the hills, and then through Monaco towards Menton and into Italy. We returned to spend the afternoon in Monte Carlo, which had to be one of the highlights of the trip! We parked the car up to begin with, and greeting us from our emergence of the underground car park was a sight for sore eyes! I had never seen anything like the cars parked in front of the Monte Carlo casino....Ferrari 599, Ferrari 430, Ferrari 360, Lamborghini Murcielago, Lamborghini Gallado, Bentley Continental GT, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Aston Martin Vanquish S, Aston Martin DB9, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Porsche 997 Turbo and a couple of rather plain Mercs......an SLR and a CLK DTM We walked a lap of the GP circuit and then the tempation was too much, so we went back to pick up the car to do a proper lap! However, this was not before we had had a quick flutter in the casino and won 100 euros! Unfortunately I didn't break any records on the lap due to the heavy presence of the local Gendarme, however it was a dream come true to take the zed through the famous tunnel! Sunday was the main driving day! Grasse to Grenoble on the N85 "Route Napoleon". No wonder this road has the reputation it has, it was 200 miles of pure driving pleasure, especially the 30km stretch south of Digne-les-Bains, which I could drive over and over again! The zed was so perfect for this type of road, all that torque made mince meat of the steep climbs following the tight hairpins up the mountain sides, and my new DS2500 pads might have saved my life a few times too when coming down the other side! Unfortunately there is not too much to speak of the last two days, other than a trip to Disneyland (which was actually pretty awesome )and the upsetting drive back home! I've uploaded a couple of vids and some pics for you all to see by clicking on the links below. http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u264/letank87/
  14. Hey mods, Just a thought, but wouldn't it be nice for everyone who's going on the NW drive to have a ww.350Z-uk.com window sticker to show their allegiance to the best 350z owners forum?! Of course I'm speaking for those of us who don't yet have 350 posts If not, I guess I could always be a post whore for the next 3 days!
  15. I'm back! Jacko, I've sent you a PM. Post and pics to follow regarding my trip!
  16. Well, its quite a car too That's quite right ir_fuel Besides, I've been in training! I just knew that the weekly 500 mile round trip to the plant in Sunderland, which I've been doing for the last 6 months would finally come in handy for something!
  17. I've been reading this thread with some interest, so much so I have bitten the bullet and decided to do my very own Tour de France this weekend!!! Itinery so far: Thursday - Leave home in Northampton, catch the ferry from Dover to Calais and head down through the Loire Valley. Friday - Set off to see the Millau viaduct and then hang a left towards the Cote D'Azur! Saturday - Spend the day taking in the sights around Monaco and doing my own lap of the GP circuit Sunday - Nip accross into Italy (It would be rude to go all that way and not be able to say that I did it!), then head north to Grenoble up the famous N85 "Route Napoleon" to take in some of the best sights and experience the "best driving road in Europe" Monday - "Missus' Birthday" Take her to Euro Disney to keep her happy. (No jokes please.....she is over 18 although you wouldn't think it sometimes! ) Tuesday - Head home to Blighty. Should be a pretty good trip although quite intense, a nice run in before the Wales meet the following weekend me thinks! I'd appreciate if you have any advice or recommendations regarding places to see along the way. Cheers
  18. Nice one Tim, they look ! Can I have them back now?
  19. It's actually a "B" with a screw cap at the bottom. The font and spacing are 100% legal though
