a few months back we both had a similar post count. How on earth did you manage to get to 4000 posts?
329
-
are they still given out at 350 posts? Is there any way of getting one sooner as its taken me this long to get this far and still no nearer to getting one.
Once I get one I'll stop pestering you lot

too late threw them out last night as I found the mere presence of them in my garage had nocked 1k off the value of my home....

hmmm the clear lack of a monaro and the inclusion of the Zed would say to me that nissan advertising bid more than vauxhall
Yes I miss my zed still!

does the flash do it any justice?
If you want I have a bag full of ickle CF stickers that I used to protect (cover up) parts of my old bike fuel tank... they even come with a custom made baseball cap to wear at a jaunty angle

Well last week due to personal circumstances, me and the girlfriend are no more It's her birthday next week too, and yes ive already bought the presents!
So yesterday, for a bit of therapy to cheer myself up, and with time on my hands I decided to give the Zed a good clean, first time in a few weeks.
Whilst cleaning, I notice a load of nasty scratches all down the passenger side rear 3/4 and wheelarch! Some b*****d has obviously scraped all down the side of my car, and courteously decided not to leave a note
The sight of these scratches p****d me off even more, it will be a £150 chipsaway job at least. Was gonna take some pics and post em, but couldnt bring myself to do it.
I was also then out of cleaning products, so drove my nice shiny clean scratched Zed up to Halfords, to stock up on some Meguiars. Whilst pulling into the car park, I had to move right over to the left to avoid some old bint coming out half across the exit, then succeeded to kerb my rear passenger side alloy!!
So now I have a scratched car, two kerbed alloys (front was already done by previous owner) and no girlfriend!!
Oh well, there's always beer
Just hope there's not anything else waiting for me round the corner!
still could be worse

other way around surely! The pod is in the middle of nowhere where as shakespears is slap bang in the middle near to birmingham. Its just south of stratford on avon which makes it more central for north/south surely than the pod?
if that's the case, even better then!
never been there though, can't vouch for the tarmac conditions/facilities etc
I can vouch for it - the tarmac is good condition - hte extended runoff isnt as smooth as you'd expect but its nothing to concern yourself with.
If you guys are serious about this maybe we could organise a cross car event - 350z and monaros. Both are heavy GTs and will produce some close racing...

racelogic do aftermarket kits for many cars, wonder if they do one for the zed.

mitsi 3000gt is only just made for road use...
had one mate , you can murder a clutch on one of these with just road use
thats my point, 2 or 3 hot starts from lights could see them off. Old friend of mine used to deal in jap sports cars, the mitsi was one of his best selling but he stopped selling them because of the nightmares he had with customers coming back with fubar clutches

weird fact (for me)
I did some on-line quotes when I had the zed. I filled in with several insurance people, one even is a girls best friend (precious stone)....
Same details, age, job, location, car details the lot only chaning from male to female for the requote
All came out more expensive if I was a woman.
I then did it a gain where i started out being a woman at first (once I stopped playing with my bits) and again it came out more expensive for being a woman.
This goes to show that the insurance people think letting women in sports cars is a bad idea

still, the less said about owning a rover the better....

Just the standard weight, i didnt strip it out or anything, so around 1300kg.
inded 1300kg vs 1700kg (almost) - fwd vs rwd - shorter gearing versus taller gearing - short throw vs galatic (circa 1 second) throws
higher power doesnt mean faster certainly on the pod, the gearing on the two cars would see you going to the quater and if we kept going the ro would just walk away - its a pain!!! But it gives good fuel ahem...
there is a diff conversion which i may also consider as I'm never going to use vmax on the road officer

Mid 15????? I was running 15.2 on my old 1.4 MG ZR. All be it with an engine upgrade and full exhaust system etca quick thing to bear in mind is do not feel ashamed at being beaten by 305s etc at the 1/4 mile (it is different at the traffic light grand prix though)As the ro weighs similar you will find it hard to get away particularly fast - my advice is if you are going to do it try it with and without t/c on.
A better place than the pod is shakespears raceway as you will get litterally tens of runs for your 20 quid sign on. If you do not warm your tyres up significantly you will spin - traction is great on the 1/4 but the first 60ft can be (suprisingly) easy to spin up with all the rubber there is there.
Best I could manage was a mid 15 despite having very low times for the first 600 - the issue was hooking up the gears which aint that easy in the ro.
If you want to go fast down the 1/4 you need to shed weight - much lower performing cars were making me look slow.
But perfect advice, the first 1/8 mile i found to be really slippery and unless you know how to get over the rubber you wont get a great time. Best is to get there early and be the first on the track so there is less crap on there.
BTW - i wil be up for this. I wont go on the strip yet i dont think, however if you want i can get the big camera down and do some filming for you all and edit it together
how much did the car weigh? Also its fwd which will help. My 60 times were indicating late 13s low 14s every time but the extremely tall gearing and ridiculously long gear throw doesnt help. The ripshifter will vastly improve this as will the upgrades I've had done but bear in mind at 70mph in 6th i am pulling 1800rpm = imagine the gearing.
Despite the surface being well prepared it was nigh on impossible to not be spinning up into 3rd
I'd advise on perhaps an organised run to shakespears as generally you get a lot more runs than at the pod

Im in Caerphilly. I hate that Pot Noodle advert isn't it
corrected for you
captint i have no idea but apparantly policies with a 2nd named driver (female) have less accidents so they reward accordingly. Also having 2 cars substantially reduces the risk of you having the accident in the insured car so that saves you too
-
not sure what you mean but yes it leaves me the main named policy holder and the 2nd driver as just a named driver - making my mum the named (not main) saved me big time...
