  1. This surely comes under discrimination laws if there are any spaces left would love to tag on but wouldn't want to steal a place from a zed Sorry its a zed only meet, but you could hitch a lift if someone as one going?Or if you could hire a zed for a weekend. no worries, not going to hitch a lift - being a passenger is soooooooo boring!
  2. +1 Shall we have a sub-forum for bankrupt Monaro owners? I'm resigned to owning this money pit to the day the doors fall off. I told the OH that I see the montly rental income as a means to support the Monaro....

  4. you think you got it bad? I'm litterally throwing £££ out the window every ferkin day in depreciation. As soon a I start the car up, Shell shares rise a point.
  5. As for niggles I always found my seats great unless I was wearing a suit, in which case it was like I was sitting on an oil slick!!!
  6. Would a foreigner be permitted as I think I'd like to pop along to this one
  7. I dont understand that you coudl do 220 without knowing

  9. Modern turbos are much the same tbh you dont get that rush because they can be so linear now with variable boost etc. On the celica you will get the rush as it suddenly spools which gives the feeling of speed, same as turbo diesels often feel much punchier than they actually are! The zed also cacoons you into it and there certainly is less feeling of speed in relation to how fast you are going. Jesus I want mine back, anyone want to swap for the ro?!?
  10. sorry to hear of this- makes me mad After a lightning strike caused my chimney to explode over my then car, Chipsaway did such a good job you would never have known it was touched
  11. as said the zed is very smooth and linear with its delivery, the GT4/Leon are like old school turbos nothing nothing, wham, change gear. Also the FWD in the leon adds to the feel of speed as it simply doesnt put it down like a real car should Gearing everything comes into it. The Zed is a GT car over anything else and a fantastic one at that, very fast just without any of the drama. As a package car I have failed yet to find one that matches the Zed as a total package. The m3 is nowhere near as close for overall ownership and the zed outhandles/brakes it. Ultimately the zed is let down by the lack of rear space (though we managed 2 week tour of France comfortabely) and the older ones did suffer from a lack of top end rush (compared to the m car). What you do get when you get a Zed is probably the best car in its class/price bracket. That of course will sound biased due to being an ex owner but I became an owner for a good reason and regretted becoming an ex-owner the day I sold it! If you want the urgency of power take a look at other cars in the same price bracket such as the Monaro (hehe not going to try and flog mine in this thread) as they are phenominal cars for the price, however, from factory you do need to do some modifications to get it where it should be. The zed came from the factory as well set up as anyone could have wanted.
  12. hehe, when I was selling my zed I took a 296 version out and it certainly reved and pulled stronger than mine (which was no slouch either), the exhaust timing really helped the revs climb quicker (it felt)
  13. hey up, yeah I bought a Smart but I sold that last year to get an X-type for the day to day run around. If I sold the ro I'd probably go for a convertible or possibly a clasic but lack of garage now would put me off getting a classic. Issue is after the ro there is next to no cars out there for the price that have the oomph. I'd fancy a 350z convertible tbh as I seriously miss mine
  14. me too though I only found this place after some time. 3 years after buying the zed and 2 years after selling it I'm still regretting every second as the car is so well rounded
  15. why not take one out for a test drive then trial it on the drive?
  16. what you need my son is a nice example of a Vauxhall Monaro that someone who is good and trustworthy (aka me) is willing to help sort you out with.
  17. indeed! I wash the car in a car wash, its a car its not a work of art. Now if I had an Aston I'd hire a polish worker to hand wax it every 2 days
  18. indeed, the mods are pricey. If I had known I could have done my own tuning (which I do now) I'd have gotten a system shipped from Aus for 1/2 the price, had it fitted locally and have had none of the @*!# I did. Efilive is so good, a godsend even as I now can add mods the retune myself. I would miss that flexibility if I went back to teh zed and I know I'd miss the power but then how often can you use the ro's speed?
  19. think I might get one as a cheap 2nd in a few years as they are such a fantastic car. Seriously undervalued really. same here with ro, always wanetd a brute v8 car and the lack of speed I had in my daily run around smart/landrover saw me chopping the disco in for the ro whilst keeping the smart for economical driving. 4 seats was a need too plus a fully enclosed boot. The ro will never be as much of a drivers car as the zed can be as I think overall the zed is the better car but the ro is the more flexible and an engine/noise to die for. I might put avo coilovers on and change the bushes but thats 1600 quid and tbh I dont see the need/point.

    Going Abroad

take the battery terminals off, 2 months will be long enough to potentially drain hand brake off, left in first or reverse willl save hand brake seizing on when back let the car start and run for a good while as the oil can sludge (synth should be ok!) but there will have been no circulation for a long time. There should be no gelling of the fuel and its injection just let it all prime up first before restart. Tyres, over inflate them to stop any flatspotting from being stationary. Prob go 40 to 44psi (Cant remember standard on the zeds) just check when you get back or give me/sarnie the keys
  21. Hi Hager - yes it was me and wife enjoying the 'play' - have to say the Monaro has the edge on the noise stakes, but then sorry you had to pull off for a petrol refill after giving it the full beans a few times Seriously, that made a rather boring motorway stint a little bit magical but then had a cracking day on the Sunday with 10 other ZEDS in Wales. ah yes the petrol, I'd actually just done a dyno run that morning down in Surrey and was feverishly trying to find good petrol on the motorway. I pulled in 3 times after that before I found at least Optimax Was really pleasantly surprised when you pulled along side us and the fun started. I genuinely regret ever letting the Zed go as for a package its close to perfection for the price range it is in. Now if I could get my hands on a rolling shell I'd consider dropping an LS1 or LS2 into one Cracking plate for your car too, how long did yours look clean for? So stunning in black for the 10 seconds after the wax!
  22. tis indeed. Do you still miss those comfy Z seats? I know I do. I did swindon to carcassonne in a day in the Zed with no aches, the Ro's seats arent quite that good. If only the sweet handling zed had the ls engine... hmm idea forming
  23. virtually the same here. I'd now only consider an 04/05 car for price etc. The shape and look I personally believe is going to last way beyond the end of car production. It is a really pretty design and the follow up will have to be special. Certainly wouldnt buy new now but 04 prices are looking nice
  24. who else things these constant revisions are just diluting the car? Why mess with a good thing. I'd only ever consider a Zed once the prices have fallen lower and buy used as new I'd be pi**ed off if evey year they brought out a new revision. KISS, one engine, 2 trims = job done. It protects the buyer more, increases brand security as it doesnt effect residuals as much and keeps things simple.
  25. My Audi buttons are ok, my lamborghini car is fantastic!! Hows the Monaro? Still doing photography?? Yep still doing it and improving a step at a time. Cars running sweet just contemplating the next toy. Looking at either the 09 Comaro or the amv8 but leaving options till 09 at the minute. Whats the running costs like on the lambo, I'd get one but my teeth aint white enough Indeed, stigmund he was in the slow lane gettin orf my road of course thanks for the heads up! Really still miss the Zed looking back at my reasons for selling (economic running whilst I went back to school) and looking at the car I bought to go to school my logic never added up
