Thanks Dorian, much appreciated . I bought the car 4 months old - it was an ex demo from a reasonably local Nissan dealership. The unit was already installed, tbh I didn't know the problem existed until I bought the bluetooth adaptor as I hadn't tried using it with a cradle. I've just been very very lazy in contacting the garage, the thought of driving around 20 miles in a Micra isn't doing anything for my motivation to sort it out either

Yep he's having a laugh mate but I wouldn't be surprised if the price is right. Main dealers for you. The only reason I'm using a main dealer is cos I'm under warranty, my brakes certainly won't be getting done by them thats for sure
