Got back from Rome on Sunday. Great place. We were celebrating Kat's 30th and I booked the Portrait Suites Hotel owned by the Ferragamo family. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone - beautifully decked out, superb staff and a great location right in the middle of all the attractions (just opposite the Spanish Steps). Didn't see a single Zed. Saw one Gallardo, a handful of Quattroportes and no Fezzas. Then again, having seen the way they drive I wouldn't take my pride and joy into the city. They seem to drive either very little cars (Puntos, Pandas and Lancia Ypsilons) or large saloons in dark metallics (Alfa 159s, Mercs and the ubiquitous, and decidedly odd, Lancia Thesis). And 99% have numerous dents.......

Nothing wrong with that, Claire. I don't regret buying the Zed for a second but I still miss my MCS. If I'd had the dosh I would have kept both!

Ah, that makes sense. Pretty stupid of them to leave the signs in! It's far too early for your mate to be making any decisions about the car etc. Anyone would be shaken up and anxious after what he's been through. Keep an eye on him for week or two and if he's not getting any better persuade him to see his GP and ask for some counselling. It sounds rubbish but he may have post traumatic stress disorder and counselling can help nip it in the bud before it sets in. It can be very effective for my clients.

Well the guy who rang my mate complaining did say he noticed two guys kept driving past watching it? But then again they did dump it in a funny place causing a slight blockage in the road, so it was bound to get noticed by somebody. Anyway, from what i've heard the car is in good condition. They didn't nick his new top either but still not sure if they took his keys and wallet. How did the guy get your mate's number?

I don't agree, Marc. It's not criminal law - he only has to prove things on the balance of probabilities i.e. what's more likely than not. It will depend on the cost to put right and the demands on Mini's time as to whether it's worth pursuing. Feel free to chat it over with me in Wales, Mini. I'm thinking Small Claims court. The facts speak for themselves - for you to have been able to get the paint on the car the council workers have been negligent. All you would need to do is establish that the paint came from there and no other source. Don't back down and take it all the way.
