Sinbad and H5 are spot on... It's a Lotus Exige S with Sports & Super Touring Packs in Solar Yellow. The reason for the uncertainty over availability is it's one of the first 2008 spec cars, which was a real bonus as there's some nice upgrades over the 2007 car. Pictures to follow....

OK time to own up. I now have a new car sitting in my garage. I collected it today from the dealers in Poole and had a long drive home hence the late post. I've known about this car for a while but it was all dependent on when it would be delivered from the factory. I reckon a few of you will have already guessed what it is. It's something I always wanted when I had the Zed but I went all expensive and sensible and bought the BMW. Well since my wife has bought a nice new used car it was time to go for what I always wanted. I knew exactly what to buy so it didn't take me long to find the right car and spec. Also, fortunately I got a great trade in on the Beamer as well. For those of you who need a clue, let's just say I've gone back to basics and I don't mean another Zed, (sorry). Also check out the sig. OK start guessing...

Seems a bargain mate. I'd hold out and give it time. The right buyer will be along. Good luck PS: I wouldn't recommend racking up big miles in a Focus RS. The average buyer of these wants super low mileage. Great car though.

Replacement for the Zed...

I've seen a Europa in the flesh and they look very nice. Some of the launch pictures don't do them justice. Lotus are competing in a very tough market. A car hand built and glued from aluminium and fibreglass is going to make it difficult to compete on level terms. But for me the Europa is a specialist car. Different in every way, and look at the price of it compared to it's performance. I reckon the Europa is an absolute bargain. The fact it isn't selling in big numbers is no surpirse as it is effectively competiting with the Exige and not the Gaymen / Z4 Coupe. If you fancy something different and don't want a fully focused Exige and need a bit more room then the are brilliant. Also there are many nearly new bargains to be had both private and a dealers. Try driving a propoer light weight car compared to the 1.5 tonne monsters of today which they call sports cars. The difference is remarkable. As for servicing, why should a Lotus be that expensive. There's loads of Lotus specialists around. Engines are reliable units from otehr manufacturers unlike TVR, and the low weight means low stress on all mechanical parts. They only come with 2 years warranty though. As for it being a VX220. The VX220 was designed and was built by Lotus, so nowte wrong with that. So for me, pound for pound, I'd have a Europa..

Been thinking recently about my next car and I can't think of anything sub £110k that I'd want really, so i think my next car will be a convertible G in Verde Ithica (lime green): Nice.... Me neither. From pictures, I like the styling apart from the awful corporate Audi Grille, too much TT A4 looking for me.

I assume we are talking standard width garage doors which are 6' 6" I beleve and some 7 foot or bigger. I think mine are 6' 6" My Zed used to fit my garage easily. The beamer is wider and much longer but still fits in but a squeeze. I use the wing mirrors as a guide as the beamer is 6' 1" wide so only 2 inches either side. I also have a couple of planks of thin mdf learning against the back wall so if I hit those I would hear them. Also have PDC of course. Carpet on the wall is great idea, must try it.

As the car has to replace the BMW, I prefer as new as possibly TBH. Let's just say a couple of dealers are working hard at the moment....

I prefer the looks of the S2, and TBH I'm looking for a car I can live with every day, not an out & out track machine, (got one of those and it ain't nice to drive on the road). The S2 with standard exhaust seems quite a refined machine, especially with Air Con, TCS, ABS, leather etc. I was also surpised just how good the suspension was for the road.

Had a test drive in an Exige S today with very very loud race exhaust. What a remarkable car. I was totally blown away...

The Impreza has lost it's identity IMHO. Looks more like a Seat..

Interesting comment, considering you deserted this website for the OC and have only just returned. So on what basis is this assessment? In anycase, if this is going to turn into a slanging match I suggest we all move on and this thread is closed. I don't see any constructive reason for it being open??? Ever stop to think why I stopped posting on here, Kev???? Every thread was ruined by Val and his megalomanic rantings. Frankly he just turned me, and alot of others off. Ive known Val long before you came along Kev, the previous board that Val and co deserted to set up this place was in place a good 4 years ago now. Thats the basis for my assessment. Sorry if I've touched a raw nerve talking about 'mate', but I sometimes wonder if anyone on here actually has a pair of balls, and will speak their mind about things. This is my opinion, but I get the feeling others are thinking the same thing. Feel free to lock this thread if you wish, I do find it ironic that you of all people want this thread locking due to slanging matches, i seem to remember every thread not so long back was you whinging about how you've been ill treated on the O.C etc etc. You were quite happy to pull the punches then. What I do know is you are out spoken, so assume any diagreement with Val was not one sided. Your return to these forums wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that you don't have a Zed anymore would it? And we all know how welcome the OC is for non Zed owners. So don't blame Val. Also, why have a go at me? Exactly my point that this thread is degenerating into a slanging match which does no one any favours so should be locked. Yes I had a disagreement on the OC forums but with one person only. Why drag this all up again? Let's just say I've learned it ain't worth it and moved on. Live and let live I say. Val was a true Zed enthrusiast and personally I got on well with the guy so will be sorry to see him go. Nuff said. Thread should be locked.
