i went the other way, the zed is a lovely car but got bored, had it for about 16 months which is good going for me. 2 years is still my car record with my MR2 roadster. and part of the reason i've gone back to soft top motoring. the s2000 just fits more of my wants and needs than the zed did. glad i owned it but glad to move on as well. the itch came quicker than i expected with the zed. been driving with the roof down and the music up loud and i've found myself actually smiling while i drive, something i never did in the zed.

+1 A 20 pack of Marlboro is over £6 now - £5 of that is tax - its ludicrous enough as it is thank you very much! i still think they should put it up. yes your paying for it but as stated above its a luxury and benefits no one, seeing as some one has got to foot the bill why not this instead of the nhs workers as discussed above. because they are already taxed to buggery

very little will actually hit the NHS, it will all get used to pay for pram faces to stay at home and pop sprogs out.

a bit of a different debate but smokers have paid for their health care ten fold in the amount of tax they already pay on it. if it was such a major health concern then why haven't they banned it altogether. oh hang on that will be because they'll loose a massive chunk of tax gain they get from it already.

i f my final salary pension is cut i'll quit teaching. its on eof the small benefits to the job fo rbeing under paid and over worked. and to be honest thats the opinion of every teacher going. alot of us do it because we know that although we'll never earn much we will at least be looked after in our old age. current retirement age for teachers my age is now apparently 67. the thought of 50 years on the front line does not excite me one bit.

the interior especially places like the handles marked so easily places like the silver parts on the steering wheel and doors scratch easily. the bobbly plastic. the arm rest that was sat too low that you could actually rest your arm on it (for my driving style at least) not major issues but enough to be slow annoyances that grew over time. my new car is 4 years older than my old car and the interior still looks like new. unlike my old zed. all issues that could easily be resolved and i had got stuff to do it, but hadn't got round to it. the zed is a great car, and i'm glad i've owned it and its now part of my car history, but maybe it just wasn't the car for me. -

yes is the simple answer not really the thread or forum to go on about it, but happy to say i definitly feel i made the right choice. -
there are people in consultancy who are paid alot for a job i could do with my eyes closed, and its because of these that we all get stung. i know of head teachers who have been crap at theri job, but because its so hard to fire someone in teaching unless you catch them stealing or touching children that alot get promoted to an advisory role and get more money (go figure) so you have incompetants telling others how to do there job, it is silly. i agree about the unions as well its also part of the reason i have joined one. i think for now all we'll have are talks, i don't think there will be any action, even if we see job cuts. i think the only time the teachers will walk out is if their pensions are removed. i don't think teaching is one of the worst areas, but you look at the NHS which ahs more managers and consultants than actual doctors and nurses; then you can start to see the waste. i would have preferred to see large cuts in whitehall; removing the red tape that the last muppets all put in; before hitting front line workers. but at the end of the day if it gets us out of the @*!# then its a sacrifice worth paying.

as a public sector worker i don't like my pay freeze, but i do understand why its needed. what i struggle with is that my pay is less than my friends in the private sector. i have slowly been working towards an equal salary compared to some one in the private sector with the same qualifications, time in job, experience etc. my pay stopped moving in 2 years when i hit thresh hold. i thought that the public sector pay freeze was aimed at people in councils and white hall who were on 100k 200k salaries with massive pension payouts. but they seemed to have carpet bombed everyone. i'm not currently a member of a teaching union (naughty i know, but couldn't justify the cost over the last few years) but i know that the 3 main unions in my school have already organised meetings to discuss the current changes. the next couple of years could be interesting. if the front line workers like police, fire, nurses and teachers decide to strike it could see the likes of the 3 day week again. i prsonally don't know what to think and am just glad i have a job and a roof over my head. if times get hard i can always sell the car or take up a 2nd job. if they remove the pension scheme for teachers i can see mass walk outs and people quitting in huge numbers.

in germany the tyre life span is 3 years. again they get replaced and then sold over here. i replace mine at 3mm or 3 years which ever comes up first

there goes my pay rise in september

could the same not be said for different levels of tyre wear though which is completely unavoidable. the legal limit in the UK is asomething like 1.3-1.6 mm; its the legal limit not the target for change. in places like germany the limit is something like 3mm. form 3mm and down the effectiveness of the tyre to disperse water is not as good and so its grip is not as effective in the wet. anyway the point is whilst my front ones are wearing out and the back ones are fine then surely these would react the same way as having two different brands of tyres on front and back. grippy on the back and not so much on the front. regardless of tread depth your still running the same compound; compounds react differently in different conditions. running the same compound with less tread is still better than running to different tyres with different tread patterns and compounds; which both disperse water differently at different temperatures i dont believe however that people would go about replacing half worn tyres just to match them up every time you get unbalanced levels of tread. they won't but they should; our road laws are alot more lax than places like germany who have a higher minimum tread depth and who also don't repair tyres. if you get a puncture its usually a new tyre. hence the roaring trade in selling german part worns and repaired tyres. what is unacceptable for one country is a cheap alternative for another. not arguing with what you have said but i just dont believe its as scary a situation as you make out. (just my two pence worth). as long as you learn the tolerences of your car and drive to its limits all well and good till you get the one situation you cant control

well said Dan, a top right up and worded so much better than i ever could. this man knows his cars, his tyres and his race tracks, this is not the ramblings of a car geek but the wise words of someone who knows more than most.

from my reading of the forum a 20/20 spacer front and rear gives the advantage of spacing while still allowing the ability to drop with out ach rolling. on some vehicles a 25 spacer or above is fine until you lower it, and then you "may" require arch rolling. this info was from early reafing on the forum, some members have found that even with a 25 or 30 mm spacer they have been able to drop without the need to roll. personally i think the 25 rear 20 front gives a good finish to the car with rays. although other hardcore ballers would say you could go more aggressive still. at the end of the day the "perfect" stance is subjective and down to personal opinion.

talk about splitting hairs "Was Mine" does that help. must admit i don't miss the zed interior, it was the one major bug bear i had. your di-noc adventure certainly does help though, big improvement -

sounds like a contaminant stuck in the paint is actually rusting, not the actual paint. rust is all but non existent on a zed. apparently places like train station car parks are notoriously bad for iron dust from the tracks. really bad for the paint. needs good paint care etc to keep the car looking good. the iron gets trapped in the paint and then thats what rusts.
