LakeZ 2013, the Evolution June 28th, 29th, 30th

Big thanks to Martin for organising this show once again. This years format certainly worked well. Apologies to those I didn't get chance to say bye too when we left early. But hope to see you all soon. The boys seemed to enjoy their first weekend car show (they've already been to two static day ones!). And Sebastian certainly made a new friend in Mandy! Ben and Antonia in the pub were amazing and me and Helen can't thank them enough for helping to accommodate us and the twins. It made our first trip away with them a much easier experience than it could of been. With luck my Z32 will have a sodding MOT next year and will be there! -
It had a cloth interior originally. Previous owner swapped out for leather. I need to check paint codes.

I took the bumper of to find it was just because the washer bottle wasnt full up mate.. double check its full There's no life to the pump. Had to leave it on the ramps at mates garage last night to come home and look after the boys. Hoping it's just the fuse. The pump is a bitch to change. Though I may be able to jury rig the wiring and use the rear window pump. Still got to get it through emissions too. Timing is tight. -

Looks like I'll be leaving the new Zed at home. Can't get the washers working so won't pass the MOT in the morning. I'll still be there though. Martin - Me and Helen would like to eat in the pub. But difficult to book a time as the boys dictate our schedule! Will speak to Antonia tomorrow when we arrive. -

Saturday evening is traditionally the busiest. Through the day there ain't always that many folk around as they are off doing the drive or other local activities. Having said that, there are generally a few people still there. -
Can you still get a new tax disc from local DVLA office if you only have the new keepers sleep and a V10 form? Gov.uk seems to suggest you still can, but then they also still say you can do your private plate there too.

If the TT gets dropped in, it's obviously a long block and all the associated gubbins, Oil cooler, new fuel pump, intercoolers and piping, new rad, clutch, flywheel, shim on the starter, transmission bell housing shaved, exhaust, pcu, loom.... Brakes are the same. lol To be honest, by the time I cost it all up, it could be worth doing the V8 conversion. Externally she will remain mostly stock. Already has 99 spec rear lights, so will get the inserts I think to convert front lights to 99 spec. Possibly get a 99 spec front bumper at some point. That's probably it to be honest externally. I love how she looks already.

I don't really do OEM And there is no way an OEM spoiler is going back on, way too fugly! Did you not read the end of the first post regarding a possible V8 transplant?! Although cost wise that would be a nightmare so I would likely just find a good s/h TT engine to drop in.
-
Aye, the SWB is only a 2 seater, where as the LWB is a 2+2. Quickest way to tell diff, is the fuel filler cap. On a SWB it's in front of the rear wheel arch. On a LWB it's behind it.

Deff a non turbo. The TT engine has 2 sets of pipes

I'm sat on the boat impatiently waiting for Thursday arrive. After selling the VXR8 to fund house purchase and a wedding, oh and then the small cost of my wife deciding to give birth to twins, I have been without a project car of any sort for quite some time. My wife got fed up with me moping around the house and spending hrs on Pistonheads classifieds (little does she realise I will likely still spend hrs on the classifieds). Anyway, she decided that it was only fair that I got back in the driving seat so to speak. So I have struck a deal on a car and have to go collect it from Darn Sarf on Thursday. This consists of a drive to Bradford to collect a flat bed car transporter, and then a drive to Cambridge, followed by a drive home with it on the back. Hopefully getting back in time to get it to my local MOT station. Where fingers crossed she will pass with flying colours and she'll be going to LakeZ! Oh, yeah, pics.... She's as rare a the Z32's come; SWB Slicktop Manual Non-turbo I don't have the time at the moment to look after a TT model, which is why I went for the na model. I always thought the LWB models looked a but stretched, so settled on the SWB. There's no mod plans at the moment. Although there is a vague possibility funds allowing in a few years that she may get an engine transplant. Probably for a V8 of some description or other.

I went in an Accord! choptop has always came up in his Passat. Stew came down in their Fiat the first yr. Its about the people as well as the car. You'd be missed.

Cheers man, yeah I'll post one up when she's alive. Got the interesting task of completely building the exhaust system from scratch so kind of interested to hear what it sounds like myself. I'll put up a vid of the skyline later so you can hear what the engine used to sound like Yeah I'm kind of dreading the impact it'll have on my bank account but at least I've already made the main purchase of the engine so that will really help. I'll keep you posted ;-) The LS3 is a fantastic engine and can't wait to see what it's like in a small, modern chassis like the 350 I'm up in Darlington so feel free to drop me a PM and pop by when you want Good stuff. I'm a Poolie so not too far away I'm sure you know already but for LS3 parts etc Monkfish Performance are a good shout. -

About time someone took one of these on properly. I live LS engines. I had an LS3 powered VXR8 for a few yrs. Where about in the NE are you? I wouldn't mind coming up to have a look at some point. Also pick your brains as I've just bought a Z32 and have a vague plan to install a LS1. -

definately! What have you got for a family wagon these days lol? Missing the v8 are we? Still got the S-Max (it'll be pride of place in the LakeZ car park....lol) But I do now have a V6 in the stable again. And if all goes to plan, it will be at LakeZ too! -

Anyone want to earn some beer tokens? I need someone with a car trailer and the means to tow it to collect a car in Newmarket and take it up to Hartlepool. I'll refund diesel and throw in some beers. Keyser, why can't you live more central?!?!

Isn't that the Zed that was repaired by a member on here?

I had one years ago for a courtesy car when Mazda broke my RX8. Such good fun to drive. Bloody tight fit for my lanky frame though
